I liked it when Spock was turning himself in for court-martial for killing his captain, when Kirk announced he had to have HIS permission to do it and Spock showed a high emotional spirit of gratitude, then found out Doc McCoy had given Kirk a Mickey shot. THAT WAS A GOOD EPISODE. Spock told his betrothed's boyfriend, "You will find that Having is not as rewarding as WANTING ! It's not Logical, but often true."

Disagree. The most iconic fight was between Kirk and the Android "Finnegan" in the first season episode "Shore Leave." It was a good ol' fashioned fistfight. The fight between Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, and Uhura vs. Mirror Spock in the second season's "Mirror, Mirror" is a close second in my book.

Celia Lovsky was once married to Peter Lorre, an actor who acted in horror films. He once told the comedian, Spike Jones "You do to music what I do to people." One of my friends said ,"She probably laughed." I used to wonder what T'Pau was like when she was younger. The young actress who played T'Pau on "Enterprise" ('Awakening' and 'Kir Shara') answered my question.

It's hard to believe a Vulcan, member of a longer-advanced society than Earth's albeit one encrusted with Greco-Roman levels of religious and tribal state ceremonial, would say "the air is the air, what can be done?" Sounds like someone from a pre-technological society that had never heard of medicine or biochemistry. Still, it was and remains one of my favourite moments. Celia Lovsky as T'Pau so masters the idea of being aristocratic and dismissive that it would have been a privilege to be insulted and dismissed by her.

It's an entertaining fight sequence and well choreagraphed; no doubt about that. I hate inconsistencies in not just Star Trek but in many movies and TV shows of the time. Spock is supposed to be at least three times the strength of an average human, yet there are this and several other episodes where Spock and other human characters are evenly matched.

Spock was physically weakened at this point to where McCoy didn't think he could take Stonn who wasn't exactly a Vulcan macho man but even in a great show plot convenience sometimes wins over consistency

@johntabler349 There was two other episodes; again was "evenly" matched . . The one where they're in a modern day Rome and the one where McCoy gets married.

@@williamphillips6049 Yolanda when the landing party is ambushed? I believe he is taken by multiple armed men who get the drop on him. In the Roman episode he easily defeats two trained gladiators when his attempts at reason fail. I can see the argument on the first one but not really the second

Iconic, yes. But I always thought the fight in the hallway against the "Andorian" was the greatest Kirk fight of all time!

I have long wondered what Kirk would've done if he knew it was a death match before he accepted. I'd say Kirk v Kang in "Day of the Dove", I'm always up for a little swordplay.

Exactly. Darn the Vulcan 's...T'pau did "warn" him that he could decline 'with no harm to thyself", which a Vulcan would have gotten- but she should have known & Spock even told her Kirk has no clue. But I guess if you believe Vulcan 's are non-violent, you wouldn't expect a death match!

@@suzanneroberge494 Kirk said it himself, if he got into trouble he'd quit and honor would be satisfied. That's what I thought right up until T'Pau said, "This fight, is to de detht." Five year old me made Mum laugh when I said, "Hold the phone, Roger!"

Kirk vs Finnegan = #1. The fight with Khan in Space Seed was #2. This was #3, just above Kirk fighting Ron Tracy (#4). Most Star Trek fights were short and sweet.

The BEST fight in Star Trek history? Quite possibly. Most iconic? Naah, that would be the Kirk vs Gorn fight.
