We've been on 2 safaris. The 1st was a cookie cutter package thru AAA travel. In retrospect it was less than good although we had a good time. We spent half the time traveling from camp to camp. Our guides were terrible, didn't find the animals we wanted to see. The 2nd trip was thru one of the best outfitters. We met with them. told them what we wanted and ddin't want. The accomodations were the best, the guides were amazing, the food was 5 star, saw more big cats than we could count. Of course it cost a little more but well worth it. Do your homework and planning. would suggest going a private game reserve in S Africa near Kruger.

What are you thoughts on the safaris / game drivers organised through the hotels or lodges? I have never been to safari or in any country in Africa. So I didn't know what to consider etc so I booked the lodge's safari. My logic was that they would want to give you a good experience as you are coming back to stay at their hotel. So if you give a horrible service you are stuck with those people 😅 I know that with those hotel's options you usually pay some extra.
