Jon. I am an old man. So what I am telling you is based on decades of experience. Take heed. No matter who a person is, where they are, what they are talking about, etc. and so forth, there is always a lawn sprinkler lurking somewhere and ready to declare itself just when you are wanting to drive a point home...I have more tips on the horrors of reality ready when you need them. I love sampling. My favorite being industrial sounds. A steel works can be so percussive and musical.

I ise the "Dolby On" app on Android and it's great, it removes background noise automaticaly so it's a great tool for "on the go" spund recording when I don't have my little Tascam stereo recorder, which has a probably better recording quality. But same as in photography, the best camera is the one you have with you. In this case it's also the smartphone which becomes a winner. Of course my DSLR has a better image quality, but I don't have it all the time AND it does not fit in my pocket either. So yeah, we live in great times to either record sounds or images! Often, a garbage truck passing by or anything similarly interesting sonicaly will become a new sample for my sound design and make a very cool preset for a synth. 😊
