Do you want to know how to start the golf swing? This video explores the common errors made by most golfers, and explains how the body motion is mostly responsible for the start of the swing in the BEST golfers, whereas the POOREST golfers use their hands and arms to lift the club away from the ground.
STOP ROLLING, and START TILTING & TURNING!
Learn to move the club away from the ball with this cool drill using just a club and and alignment stick.
Any questions? Post them down below, and please consider "liking" and sharing this video if you found it helpful.

This is an oldie but such a goodie! Rob knows what he is talking about here. So much can go wrong in the first 2 feet of the swing that will kill you 1.5 seconds later. Doing it wrong is like building your house on a poor foundation. Whenever things get off with my swing and I reform to prior bad habits that impact my contact and tempo, I go back to this drill with the alignment stick to exaggerate the feel and it gets me back on track. Thanks, Rob!!

Rob, I grew up on golf and took the sport seriously through high school. Looking forward to getting back to the sport in the spring. I even have a few buddies in mind to play with. I grew up on Hogan and I see a lot of similarities and a few logical differences... and I get it. I look forward to getting out to the range and applying your teachings. Thanks from Houston!!

This is great tuition, I found this by hitting thousands of balls in a home sim, steep back swing to shallow down swing, fixes inside take away, never seen that drill before but wish I had months ago. Checking all the p's on video and they all look good. For me feels like the back of my right hand never rotates clock wise on the back swing, Wish this guy was local to me.

Absolutely excellent a masterclass. I played single figures in the day, then I fell into the issues described and the swing fell apart. Wish you had bee around then. Thanks for the brilliant concise explanation and drills.

great drill i was concentrating on the wrong things ,using that drill made me aware of my flat shoulder turn, so now i use my shoulders to start my backswing and set the angle of my shoulders at the same time it made me get amazing depth of the shoulder turn wow contact is so much better with that simple movement I am new to the stack& tilt but seem to be picking it up fairly easy, What it has done personally for me is make me aware of how the body movements can help or create havok thanks .

Rob great video which talks about starting the backswing by tilting, turning and extending. I struggle to blend the tilt and turn part of the backswing.....any tips on how to ensure that one is tilting and turning to initiate the backswing?

I do roll the club inside and across the line at the top and to the untrained eye, it looks like I then have to come over the top. Somehow I’m still 10° inside out and really struggle with striking the ball with the hosel of the club. I’ve seen various teachers none of which have been able to help me. I would fly halfway around the world and get a lesson from you if I thought you could untangle this mess of a golf swing I have. I’m a five handicap and can shoot par but know I could be so much better without all the moving parts that make up my swing.

Love the vids Rob... starting to get better contact with a more centered rotation. You mention a blended movement going back... any suggestions on what I should be thinking or feeling for the first two feet on the takeaway?

I just watched your “Flying Wing” where you demo how you should maintain the bend in right wrist at set up back and through the downswing. But looking at your takeaway in this video your right wrist appears to be perfectly straight/flat? I’m a little confused on the right wrist action? Early extension/lack of lag is a primary problem for me.

I am a 4 handicapper and have the this problem. I see many videos on the take-away, what is the next move after the demonstrated correct take-away. Never see any videos on the next move. That’s the part I am struggling with. As I do your one piece take-away and then after that, rotate it more inside (flip). Would appreciate a video on that please.

Very good as a lot flip the club inside .. many KZbin videos like yours for first part of backswing .. but you should realize that position feels unnatural and one feels confused on what to do next .. you would separate yourself from the rest on how the 2nd half of the swing goes .. many thanks if you could show us that ..

this video seems to contradict his other video which shows the full back swing. He does not show when the right elbow caves in to allow the hands and wrists to be in the correct position on the full back swing.

This is more or less what Jimmy Ballard says. Keep the hands in front of you throughout (he calls it the Y). By doing this you keep the face square to the path. See the Ballard/Mediate videos. Jimmy taught this method to numerous tour and major winners - Player, Seve, Strange, Sutton, Azinger etc, etc. It's so simple and easy to do.
THIS WILL TRANSFORM YOUR CHIPPING!
