This was taught to me by Shumi on day 1 of TWO. This stuck with me. The motorcycle always goes where you look. I realized that the body implicitly aligns almost instantly into the right posture conducive for the bike to move in the direction you look. I am also realizing that my bike does exactly what I think it should do…. And this forces me to keep my mind clear when I ride. This is a lovely episode. More riding skills videos please.

Noob here. I have started riding motorcycles 3 months back. Should I use 2 fingers to pull in the clutch during shifting gears or use 4 fingers and pull the clutch all the way in and shift?

Solid Advice! Attended a TVS L1 course and immediately noticed improvements in my eyes tracking the road ahead and looking at corners in a much better way. Another great point is " wow i am going fast ", i have noticed that my "comfortable speed" on the road ( same road, same time) varies on day to day basis, its important to be mindful about that. I think counter steering should be next topic. In last 6 years I have never physically meet a guy, who knows that bikes counter steer. -My small story I started riding for tutions or college in 2007 on family and friends bikes but bought my own in 2016 and actually started riding. My only accident ever was in just 3rd month of buying bike, it's because I panicked and steer instead of counter steer in corner. And then I actually learnt riding. And again after that I have still not physically met a person who knows about counter steering. People fight and argue with me. I am talking about people with decades of riding experience. P.S.: I don't have any pro-rider friends. Solo rider.

Well said. Vision is the most underrated skill that motorcyclists do not look at (pun unintended). The motorcycle will go where the eyes look. Its surprisingly effective. Irrespective of whether its a smooth ghat road or a gnarly offroad trail. Au contraire, if you look at the rock, you will hit the rock.

We would suggest staying at home, unless it's absolutely necessary. Avoid leisure travel. Say you have an accident and need to be admitted into a hospital. Now, medical resources need to be allocated to you. The resources which could have helped one more covid stricken patient. Also, mask in helmet. No two ways about it.

I had an accident some years back Took me a while to get back on the road. Never did anything consciously, but nw looking back, i think i did the right thing. Frst and foremost, i took it slow. I started with my father taking me in a car on small rides. I jus wanted to gt cmfrtble being on the road. Initialy jus looking at bikers taking those turns and cuts used to scare me. But i got cmfy in 3 to 4 days. Then i asked him to take me on his bike. I had to get cmfrtble being on two wheels. After abt a week i started with cycling. I wanted to be okay with carrying my weight on smething light and flickable. Suddenly after abt a week again, it jus felt okay to get on my bike. I jus stepped on it and rode it out. Jus circled my colony a couple of times. And it just clicked. Nw m assuming u wrote abt the mental block that cmes after an accident and a surgery. As far as the physical strain is concerned, the health professionals know better. Take ur tym sis. These things do test you in so many ways. Do not rush. Let ur body and mind dictate hw they want to proceed. You are willing to get back, that is great in itself. Hope you get back soon. Tc.

I can do left side cornering easily but when it comes to right side I feel I will loose the control and I slow down my bike. 2. When it's too foggy I feel like I will fall now because helmet is on and visibility is for almost for few meters only. What is the best way to handle these situations?

In India, majority of the public use two wheeler as mode of transportation, which also contributes to the major chunk of road accidents. Unlike for cars, we don't see any formal training to ride motorcycles. This video surely helps in that sense and I request you to do more such educative videos!!

This was really good. I learnt about this crucial skill a while back applied it to off-road trails and it works like a charm. Helps me dodge bigger stones and potholes easily. Since you are on the subject of crucial riding skills, I'd like a video on highway riding positions, as in which position would be most safest position to be in while riding on say, single lane roads, two lane roads, four lane roads, and six lane roads.

Thanks! This was good. A critical point made succinctly. I'd think that given Indian street riding conditions, reading the traffic, anticipating, planning evasive maneuvers in case you need them, is in the same category as, and many times incorporated into the 'look where you wanna go' skill. Can you do one on braking and cornering? I want to be clear in that these are 2 distinct skills, even though one uses a lot of braking skill to make cornering skills better.

Easiest way is not cut a corner. Take it slowly and be safe.

This is something I learnt to drive better and for spirited runs. New drivers and riders are unaware of this while more experienced people, say your parents, do it subconsciously. it's great for regular driving and riding too. Also for people who are learning, a running commentary is something that helps a lot.

I always had the desire of riding for long distance on my own bike.. But never owned one. On my first ride with my friends(they have been riding for a while) to Lavasa, after I bought my DOMI 250 I was taken aback by the corner speed they were carrying on the twisties... I was afraid and had to brake hard once... But this skill was the first thing I tried and I was so happy that it came out perfectly.... Today Shumi talking about this is a validation and a tiny moment of pride for me who is still a very novice rider.
