Where is the wind coming form?
Can you answer this basic sailing question without looking at the instruments ?
Can you see when a gust of wind is coming ?
Leave your phone & electronics aside and start connecting with your environment, look to the water, find the wind, feel it with your head and ears.
Start by feeling the wind on one ear, slowly move towards the wind until you feel it on both ears then over correct a little bit so that you only feel it on one ear and come back to the exact position where you felt it on both ears.
The more you practice the more it will make sense, the more it will happen instantly.
Awareness will keep you safe, keep you aware of wind changes and help you with anything you do on the boat and much more.
When you’re out there, play with yourself try and see if you can understand where the wind is coming from and double check with the wind vane.
