Reminds me of the good old days going out to Pedro Creek with you and your dad when he gave you that mini sluice box! Didn't realize you were making videos, I'm enjoying your cabin build ones now. I'll have to drop by and check it out sometime next summer, looks good buddy!

We did an Alaska gold tour for 4 weeks summer 23 and loved it. Week in Nome, Fairbanks and Skookum gold camp in Central. We also stopped at Pedro creek and panned and got some candy to add to our memories. Also found an old pair of rods while digging. Now I’m hooked on Alaska and will be back in a week or so for the summer

I got pretty good at panning out the salted poke bags at good old Dredge #8 when giving tours back in the day but I've never tried it for real.

Defiantly more fun doing it for real, even if it might not be as fruitful haha

@@BackcountryAlaska Heh yeah panning out the Binkley's gold was probably a bit more profitable lol. I'll definitely have to give the real thing a try someday.

One thing I learned when panning after sluicing, is always pan into another pan. No matter how good a panner you are, you will always lose a little back into the creek. Great video though.Sluicing 101.

Yep! Thats what I do for cleaning up my dredge, well I pan into a tote anyway. But this was quick 15 gallons of material so it wasnt a big deal!
@MyAlaska12 Жыл бұрын
How much did your dredge cost you? I really want to get out panning this summer.

I have a four inch Keene ultra mini and all in at the moment with all the gear I’m probably into it for $3500. I’ll defiantly be making some dredging videos this summer, but if you want to check out some of my posts from the last few years you can follow my Instagram @tblees

They’re easy enough to make! I’m sure you could find the materials at your local hardware store

"Witching sticks"!! I knew an old fellow who was a devout Christian and a dowser. Whenever we called them "witching sticks" and laughed he'd get so upset he'd get in his truck and leave. It's both shocking and sad that people still believe this is real. It shows how utterly gullible many in our society are. As far as Pedro Creek, you can stick a shovel in the ground anywhere on that creek and you'll get some flour gold. You can work all day and you won't pay for the gas it took to get there but you can say you found gold in Alaska.

@@Ako2account I respect your opinion friend but I disagree with you on both fronts. I’ve seen the sticks work 100% there is some actual science behind them as well and if a guy my age anyway shoveled all day with gold prices how they are I’d most defiantly make the $10 in gas money back plus more. Cheers
