Outstanding instruction, Larry - and the first time I've understood proper sequence (and shape) in the golf swing... Thanks! William

I once had a coach who taught and reinforced the traditional 'lag' concept into me. Totally destroyed my game and I lost all love for it. It was only recently and by accident that I knew what true 'lag' was as well. These are great videos man, you're doing us golfers a very good thing.

My understanding is that in order to do it the traditional way, you have to add a shallowing move PLUS a bowed wrist to square the face. So much to time and think about! I like Larry's simplified approach better.

Good one! You know what you are talking about! Very few people teach lag like that. The longer the club head remains behind you the more lag you have. When the club moves in front of you and you start to lose the external rotation of the right arm the lag goes with it. Obviously it has to happen eventually to allow you to release the club. Holding wrist hinge is a popular theory but it doesn’t do anything as you point out.

probably the best explanation of Lag.. thank you

So true! Down hinge thought applies force to shaft and get more club head speed

Nicely explained. 👍 lagging in the traditional sense will destabilize the face more than down hinging and rotating too.

Downhinge is very helpful for weekend golfers to shallow downswing and to hit draws.

Very clear! Thanks for the great lesson!

Thanks! Some teachers advocates to "stack left while increasing wrists angle" and then "snap the wrists/forearms" for "increased club head speed". I was unsure if downhinging as you explained it could produces good club head speed - but now I think it may be possible based on your explanation.

Any doubts on that are immediately dispelled by Matty Blois, he's got clubhead speed to spare.

Kinda looking forward to winter as Larry’s new setup is producing some great content👍. Larry just throwing it out there but have you thought about adopting two old cranky seniors Bandit and I are available? I think adopt a senior golfer might be bigger then on line PC gaming. 😂

Can you please do a short video to show exactly what you mean by downhinge? I do understand hinge and unhinge but what is unhinge movement. Thanks

Ive made a video of the downhinge before that you can find on the channel =)

Larry, I got a golfing buddy who's been playing golf with his homemade swing for the last 20 years. He's never gotten a lesson before, he completely opposes any constructive help, and he refuses to see a pro to fix his faults. You can say he's pretty stubborn, proud, and dellusional about his 96 handicap. Despite this, he's a cool dude off the course. From your experience, what do I say or do to get this guy to see a golf instructor? I'm tired of seeing him get beat by our new golfing buddy who started only a year ago. Btw he watches your videos and is rapidly improving day by day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
