A cool way to design this would be if the ball of the flail was the pommel, and you had some sort of contraption that released the flail when you wanted to switch to half-swording and just bludgeon a guy with it, since at that point you'd just have a flail with a bad handle. You'd normally use the sword, a normal sword with just a bigger pommel, and when some dude in armor shows up, you activate it, ball drops with chain, grab it by the blade and it's brutalizing time.

I flinched when you swing it over your head and the flail/blade wrap around.

Dude, it's a pommel flail. POMMEL flail. For when you want to end yourself together with the opponent. Ultimate weapon to flex the most dangerous technique in the world.

I mean if this thing is enchanted to fly and swing without anyone holding it than its a pretty good design

This makes me think of the kusarigama, my favorite weapon. If the proportions were changed to match that weapon, you'd end up with a full sized flail attached to a short sword or dagger.

When he showed the image of it revealing the flail pommel, I just about created a black hole from the near-infinite density of cringe I felt.

Ah its the old "The more exotic the weapon the more amazingly skilled the user must be" trope.

The only person I can imagine using this sword is some giant immortal skeleton warrior who is immune to all forms of damage, including his own sword so taking friendly fire damage would not be a problem to focus on maximum damage and more importantly intimidation

When I saw the flail, I was reminded of a throwaway line in an Iain M Banks book. "The priests had painted blue circles on their foreheads. Zakalwae wondered if it was a religious impulse to help snipers,"

Use it like a Dao with the cloth attached to the handle's end, holding the cloth with the other hand (in this case, chain). Flail the chain end on defense That seems to be the only way to make it work

Seeing that illustration got me thinking about some lore behind this "weapon": Legend has it that the Cursed Blade of Deimos was designed and wielded by the Dread Lord Sados Masochisus as the ultimate weapon, at least in his twisted mind (and possibly to satisfy the whims of, and as tribute towards, some foul malevolent demon whom inhabited and corrupted his mind). It is said that only a chosen few (if any) could successfully harness its malevolent power without succumbing to its curse, of which many unworthy souls have fallen victim to. Alas, poor Masochisus was the 1st among these unworthy souls. Another legend has it that Sir Pragmaticus the Clever stumbled upon this cursed weapon lying in some desperate peddler's possession, and sensed its cursed power. However, instead of turning it down like so many before him, he purchased the dreaded blade off of the poor peddler's hands as a gift to use in a duel against his rival, Sir Boasterius the Foolish, defeating him by tricking him into accepting this weapon as a gift, and daring him to best him in one-on-one combat using the weapon (which, of course, lead to Sir Boasterius's unfortunate demise). Afterwards, when Sir Pragmaticus's personal executioner lost his old executioner's sword, the clever Pragmaticus came up with a new way of executing his prisoners and condemned criminals: by forcing them to attempt to use the cursed blade to defeat his/her opponent in a fight to the death. By the way, and this is a quick, but serious question: Could you possibly throw such a cursed weapon without hurting yourself in the process?
@ulforcemegamon30944 жыл бұрын
ShadowWolfTJC welp , there are some weapons that are intended to hurt whoever holds it because it would prove the person holding it is strong enough to do that despite hurting themselves in the process , while it does sound stupid is mostly to prevent any retard of holding such dangerous weapon in first place , ouryken in digimon per example literally kills you if you aren't strong enough to even hold the power within the blade

Doesn't have to. It comes with speakers and sparklers that clearly only work when you swing it by the chain.
