Nate, good to see you checking out this phenom. I know your younger so I'd love to tell you just how special this man is. I'm a drummer, but I started out learning jazz. I went back w no Internet to libraries and old books. I studied all of them then one day I found an old man named Henry Adler, he taught a lot of the chop masters. He said forget all of these cats look at Buddy Rich. He's telling me all this over the phone,, he said Buddy came to me when he was 12-13. I asked him to play so I knew where to start. Once he started I never stopped him. Finally he told buddy man there's nothing I can help you with. He said you could show me some of those licks. Just keep playing and doing what your doing. After that stuff started coming out on VHS and there were no words for that speed and style. In the end he actually performed near me and I got to meet him, he was amazed I knew all these stories. As per the rudimentary aspect he really based all his solos on 1 specific rudiment. The para didle didle. Anyway yes I learned it and wow I was amazing lol. He died a few months later. Many drummers like weckl, Peart achieved amazing heights and all of them were buddy rich finatics and a kid. There's no teaching this stuff, it's born into him. A prodigy. El estepario is the next one he's self taught, his skills are ridiculous and in my day you meeded more drums to get certain sounds. Out of all my drummer friends nobody got hooked like me and I started posting. Keep watching Nate. Good too meet you as well. I'd love to be on the show, hit me 732-779-8612
