I’ve been fortunate enough to get permission on some merriam land out west that has a flock of birds like this. Some of the most fun I’ve had turkey hunting. Rancher was talking to me before last season and “had a down year” I get there and he had easily a few hundred

Great video! Those merriams are some pretty birds. Guess ill stick to easterns for now! You got any plans on NC this year? I work with one of Erics hunting buddys/neighbor, and love living vicariously through some of the pictures on his phone!

That was total insanity 😮. Hope y'all had some towels to dry off with. I know he spit all over you 😂. Y'all must have slept on a limb with them. Awesome video and sure glad you dropped this one tonight . I'll be in the woods before daylight in Florida and this just fired me up

Top notch video. Is it common for the Merriams to fly down that early?
@pinhotiproject9 ай бұрын
I see it alot.
@travisarnott70939 ай бұрын
Sometimes it is. They pitch pit when they have enough light. Have to be a turkey to know that exactly. I hunt Merriam's almost exclusively, and have seen them wandering around in the dark pretty much.
@johnmoney4559 ай бұрын
@travisarnott7093 I live in NC and I've seen eastern birds ground roost or fly down early but it's pretty rare

How close do eastern hen yelps sound to that of hen merriams?
@pinhotiproject9 ай бұрын
I think it's one in the same. Higher pitched out west maybe- the biggest difference is the witting versus clucking in my opinion

Your GoPro does reflect a lot. Wondering if that scared previous birds

It’s modded out to point of no recognition. It’s on an alps frame but I’ve had to redo most all stitching.
