And you can see the spanish players were not happy at all. Im sure most of the team would rather come off the group stage in first place, even if it means saving Germany and facing Brazil early. So yeah, I guess you can hate Spain for being lucky the same way you can hate a lottery winner, but you gotta recognise its an honorable team.

This World Cup has been such a strange one. The last one I was super invested in was 2010, and all my friends were for Spain, and I was for Germany. Obviously they both did well there. I expected something similar this year, and germany showed up pretty weak. When I heard that neither of them would advance I was totally shocked. On the one hand I’m not a huge fan of seeing some of those football giants not do well, but in the other hand I think it’s really cool to see some of the smaller teams make it through.
