Stephen Hendry: "Both players have shown tremendous character in the most intense match probably I've ever witnessed." 35:11
Incident: the atmosphere of the match intensifies early on when Reanne Evans refuses to bump fists with Mark Allen.
Excellent camera work and close-ups allow us to feel the drama that surrounds each player.
Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to substitute the full version but make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter-length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

@@grayeves3309 He certainly was. Regarding his one eyed sighting comment with Reanne Evans, he himself was slightly right eyed and briefly tried centralising his cueing, following the breakage of his original cue and poor results with the new one. It didn't work and he soon returned to his normal sighting method but the magic seemed to have dimmed with the loss of his old faithful wand.

It took him a while to settle into this. I remember him 5+ years ago when he was known for "negative commentating". He focussed on the weaknesses of players always seemed to communicate the subtext "to be great (like me?), you have to be better than that". But he has learned quickly that commentating is about positiveness. And this match is the perfect example. Cannot imagine a commentator being more positive about both players here. And his insight is of course phenomenal. So yes, I totally agree with you. :-)

Adding some contextual notes would have helped! According to Wikipedia, "In 2005, Allen began a relationship with women's world snooker champion Reanne Evans. They had a daughter, born in 2006, but ended their relationship in 2008. Following his breakup with Evans, Allen fell into a deep depression and had periods where he did not leave his home. He spoke openly about his vulnerability to depression and loneliness at this time, partly due to the amount of travelling required of a top professional snooker player."

I thought the handshake snub was bad, but I read up on it... It turns out Mark Allen has a child with Reanne, and has legally challenged increasing the alimony payments for the child (currently only £100 per month, despite earning 6 figures.) He also requested that Reanne be removed from backstage during a tournament when she was due to be commentating. So there's a context that I think a lot of people in the comments section are overlooking.

Thank for this comment. I knew there had to be more to it. £100 per month is shameful. I paid more than that to my ex and I'm earning way less than what Mark Allen earns. Whatever you feel about your ex, if you give a shit about your kids, you should pay whatever child support you can afford, within reason. £100 per month is just laughable for a man on a 6 figure income.

I don't care what their history is. Mark Allen was professional throughout the match. However; found Rianne Evans to be thoroughly unprofessional. She is clearly a good player and could go far in the game. But she is going to find a lot of irritation levied in her direction, by the others on the tour if she acts like this on a regular basis.

He visto a Mark poco concentrado, quizá la negativa de Reanne a saludarle le descolocara. El público, que no me ha gustado nada, estaba más con Reanne que con Mark. Pero al final Mark ha demostrado porqué es quien es. Gran video.

A great comeback Joseph, 7 stone he’s lost - no more drink, fast food, medication etc and has beat all the odds. mental health is an awful thing these days, I’m from Crumlin too and have met him a couple of times - he always has time for people and does a lot for charity also, he’s good friends with Joe Swail from the Markets 👍 ☘️

Solid snooker from Allen in 5th frame, just a few claps from the audience after some amazing shots. having hostile crowd in a snooker match is bad for the sport. Reanne was also a bit bitter i think

Cheers mate, excellent stuff. It's great to see women competing against men in sports like Snooker, darts, and so forth. There really shouldn't be any reason why they can't be competitive given a bit more time. In saying that, it'll be a while before we see anything major happening, but the odd miracle might well occur.

Unsporting gesture from Evans in refusing the handshake. Personal matters shouldn’t spill into your manners at the table as a professional. Even if she won, it would’ve been a hollow one. Snooker is a gentleman/woman’s sport after all.
