I think it was definitely a mistake on andrews part to come in so hot. It was like he was trying to match whitneys energy level so he could keep control of the conversation but it backfired. When someone is so loud and fast, you kind of have to ground them, not shout over them. When he shifted gears to a more mellow approach, it was easier to listen to but also ineffective because he suddenly started therapizing her. This works if the other person is receptive, but he was misreading her emotions and was super assumptive, trying to put emotions on her that she genuinely didn't seem to be feeling.
