It’s like he still has to come off as edgy because that’s how he got famous, but is careful not to piss off the leftists Hollywood elite or especially his wife. Joe wanted the group as a way to insulate himself from actual funny comedians, because he's always been bad at comedy. He essentially bought everyone in his circle out and they do what he wants. Him leaving LA for Austin was another way of insulating and cutting himself off. Now they may be on top of comedy, but they are also completely out of touch with normal people. And, nothing lasts forever. Meaning that the whole thing could collapse at any minute and wash them out.

Cancel Culture is just a mental construct, Louie got canceled but still sells out arenas around the country and makes millions off his self produced comedy specials. What these ppl are canceled from is selling out and making money off everything but actual stand up comedy. If anything Louie’s stand up got better after the incident, we should thank FX for prolonging the career of one of the greatest comics of all time. That’s why I still buy his specials it’s not because I like his past of sexual harassment or the stories of him being a huge prick to everyone. He just does good comedy, it’s that simple.

I used to enjoy the JRE, back in the day. That said, I've never been a fan of his stand-up. It's like a bad Kinison reproduction. Besides Shane and Mark, I don't think any of his crew are very funny, and I'm not even sure Mark and Shane are really even part of his crew. He didn't really put them on like he did the others. All his Brogan Bros forget that when COVID first broke out in the US, he was on everybody to be careful, mask up and wait for the vaccine. Then, all of a sudden (about the time he went to Spotify) he switched his stance, and everyone seems to forget this. It's clear he did it for views/listens. They all forget this. He's said multiple times, he'd vote for Bernie over Trump. They all forget this too. As soon as the backlash from morons on twitter became just a little threatening, he dove so far into the far right rhetoric that he's basically unrecognizable at this point. Now he's complaining about cancel culture, all the while censoring his podcast to the point that it's basically ONLY alt-right propaganda now, and defending his unfunny cohorts by going after those that criticize them. I can't think of a clearer example of hypocrisy. Good on Anthony and Kat Williams for calling him on his bullshit. As far as Tony goes; the only reason he is relevant at all is his "shock comedy," and to call it shock comedy would be a stretch at any other time in history. It's only shock comedy now, because this group of "comedians" defined it as such.
