A good strat for r8 is having a complimentary SMG or Shotgun to help out in close range. Best two are nova or mp7 since they are pretty damn good with mid range/close range when the enemy is a little too close for comfort and the r8 for long range to get those corner picks at mid.

Think it'd be neat if they made the shooting mechanics more inline with how an actual double action revolver works Maybe when you pull it out, the character takes a second to cock the hammer back, then you can have two choices, either to fire it using the left mouse button, which will prompt your character to recock it, allowing for that same, super low poundage, high accuracy shot at the cost of a slow fire rate (literally making it a pocket sniper) or you can right click it, which won't prompt him to re cock it, but will allow you to use that double action in a faster, more panicky style, as you fight that 30 pound trigger. And maybe reduce its innacuracy a little.

I have never enjoyed or used or appreciated the desert eagle hand gun. Since acquiring "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" and discovering the revolver, it has been my immediate preference firearm between the two. I still do not use it, as my hand gun preference remains the Five-seveN and the P250. But should I ever want to use it, it is available to me as I have taken over the desert eagle's slot with the revolver on both teams. = ) I feel appreciative and fond of the revolver. I am more inclined to enjoy it than the desert eagle, I feel.

I'd pick R8 over deagle anytime. It's joy to use after you get to know it's behavior. I found to be quite effective to land one shot with R8 and spray the rest with some smg. Also my FN Llama cannon looks sick.

SiLENcE m8 have you used it since the nerf? It's not just simply less spammy. It depends on you landing one shot and that one shot has to be a headshot at close range. You have to forget about follow up shots all together since when firing it quickly its accuracy becomes so so so awful it's pathetic. Like you literally can only be in like sawed off range to be able to spam it. And if you don't get that one shot headshot off you're as good as dead since you then have to wait like 1 second before you can fire accurately again.

I've been maining the revolver for a little while and have racked up over 10,000 competitive/wingman kills on a stattrack skin for it. You had a pretty good video for this, even being totally applicable in 2019 where the revolver remains unaltered since the nerfs discussed in the video. The revolver's #1 trait by far is the running accuracy, the #2 trait being high damage and being good for wallbangs, and those are fine as they are, they need no buffs. Your suggestion to increase ammo would be a game-changer for being able to use it to peek corners - I tend to avoid that except for peeking mid in Mirage and long corner in Dust 2, only then on account of how likely it is that the shot won't be wasted. What I think would let the pistol see use would be to buff the right-click spray pattern. It should remain inaccurate, but I think it should be slightly predictable, as currently there is no spray trend. If it would perhaps shoot in a random location, as it does now, but then (when fired at max fire rate) trend upwards in a wide cone depending on initial shot position, you could use it up - close to fairly decent effect. At the very least, it shouldn't be missing 80% of crouched shots aimed at the chest from one side of ladder room to the other on Train.

Excellent video! I can actually answer your question of when to buy the R8...Now this is gonna sound nuts, but use it when you're on 'Eco' but the rest of your team has bought. For instance-> You're playing Terrorist side on Cache, your team has AK's and armor, but you don't. So you go in with an R8, stay in the back until your guys rush in, and you pick off guys in sniper positions while your AK guys handle the more obvious foes. This where I found the MOST use of the R8, even more so against enemies near CT spawn because it is just a straight shot down at them. Even not on Cache this stratagy has worked, and my teammates have dawned me 'Mccree of CSGO'.

S Plo its a beast gun at close range however i would recommend using it all the time as rifles and snipers outclass it on longer range (since u are apparently silver i am assuming you are playing dust_2, if this isnt correct i dont care lul). When you get better at csgo you need to rely on your aim skills and not on pure luck... (spraying the p90 is mostly luck if you are not standing right in front of their faces) the rifles are the best for this type... you can accurately tap shoot with them and still do a lot of damage compared to smgs that have a lot of range dropoff

Bear in mind, the old DMG rank used to be the equivalent of today's Nova 3/4. Besides, again, he does it (or used to) for the memes :P I don't see the R8 or the Desert Eagle as superior to each other as the choice between them is mainly down to playstyle. I would love to see the R8 get one more reloader's worth of reserve ammo, though, leaving the Deagle as the better wallbang or duelling pistol still, but giving the Revolver more utility besides an assist or chamber dump role. In fact, the only pistol I ever see as completely useless is the CZ. Low ammo, inaccurate as hell in all situations (I mean, ffs, a significant chunk of pistols have better *running inaccuracy* than the CZ's *standing* first shot inaccuracy), terrible spray and burst accuracy and recoil pattern, low lethality especially after its one-shot ability at basically point-blank distance is gone, long reload and draw times unsuitable for both primary and secondary weapon usage and replaces the Tec-9 or Five-SeveN, both of which offer better utility for running tap-shoots and standing short bursts respectively. There's just no purpose to buy that trashy full-auto pistol unless you genuinely enjoy using it.

The R8 needs a cost reduction and more ammo and I font think it will see any professional play but it will definitely spark the interest of players since round 1 you could by it with 300 left or some nades. The extra ammo would allow for (as you said) great wall spams and cover fire, as well as you would be able to prefire a lot of angles with it. Think about it like this, on a pistol round 1v5 clutch if you have info based on footsteps, if you prefire all 5 people that only leave you with 11 shot left, assuming you're aiming for center body mass (as the r8 is intended to) you need at least 5 more (assuming nobody is tagged) and that leaves you with a whopping 6 shots. Therefore in this scenario, you can not miss more than 6 shots, let alone prefire an angle without absolute knowledge of someones location, and you cant spray into smokes, walls etc. Therefore the ammo buff, by itself would make it useful for the previously listed things, and the cost reduction would make it feel viable compared to the more useful 500$ pistols because it doesn't feel like you are being scammed out of cheaper alternatives when it is the same price. It can't be better than the deagle because the state the deagle is in right now I believe is good and if the r8 was a replacement it wouldnt be balanced, therefore it needs to take the spot of either the duelys, or p250. That is my opinion.

In my experience, the R8 is basically like using guns in WW2 Online, if you are good with it, you can really piss off a lot of AWP'ers. Mirage's Jungle/Sniper areas are easy to pick off with the R8 from T's Boxes. Not to mention my R8 pierces their walls harder then their AWP pierces boxes, because Valve.

I'd argue it does to an extent make sense that it has a delayed fire. With any modern semi-auto weapon, all the trigger pull does is drop the hammer. That's a very crisp action. In a double action revolver however, pulling the trigger first both cocks the hammer back and rotates the barrel before dropping the hammer. Having fired both double action revolver and semi-auto pistols as a novice shooter, I can tell you they feel noticeably different. It is also, to my knowledge, completely possible to fan a double action revolver. I could be wrong on that though. However I do agree the trigger pull is currently too long to be believable. In the games Insurgency and Receiver, both games have a double action revolver with that delayed fire. This makes them feel different, but it's a small delay and doesn't screw you up that often.

I like revolvers, hard hitting 8 shot revolvers specifically. I want to love this thing, I can rely on its damage, 2 shot even aimed at the left pinky toe. Alas, that whole double action mechanic is just what will get you killed dueling against any other gun in the game against a player of equal skill. Perhaps it could be changed to work like GTAV's heavy revolver where the hammer is cocked, slowing its fire rate tremendously, but its ready to go bang once the hammers back.

I’ve use the R8 so much that my friends call me a cowboy since I use it alongside a shotgun or the Scout. It’s a fun gun to use if you have the time to practice. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re dueling with someone that’s using an automatic weapon in CQC. Regarding the Fan the Hammer mechanic, you have to pray to the RNG gods to score even a hit on an opponent. However, in my plays, it’s a good way to kill someone while running in close quarters. In conclusion, I would recommend using it if you want to piss people off (even your teammates). But if you want to raise your competitive rank, just use the Deagle

There are some revolvers that are double and single action, this allowing to also fan fire. And though the delay is exaggerated, double action hammers to add to delayed firing irl too.

Honestly I think the R8 is a good anti-save pistol. My typical usage for it is having the XM as my primary so I can handle all close quarters stuff easily enough, and have the R8 as my backup so I can get major chunk damage on someone, or even get a 1 shot kill to the gut on players at range with no armor. It's fairly effective

i can see the R8 being used like a scout on force buys. 2 people can buy R8s on second round, and use them to tag enemies as they get close. other 3 people have tec-9, p250 for finishing spam fire. just like pros buying a single scout and upgraded pistols

Imho it makes sense as a t-side pistol to support glock pushers that tank bullets for you and get the finishing kill with their low damage glocks. Doesn't make sense on virtually any other round because I'd either save or force buy SMGs, so it's a one-time first round pay off that might win, trading the deagle slot.

Thanks for the vid. I had like 3000+ kills on the old R8. I was a pro with it and used it at pretty high ranks :P It was excellent for tilting the enemy (making them mad so they play worse) I was sad when they nerfed what was already a weak but usable gun. It was almost OP paired with the auto shotty. Anyway, I see after viewing your vid that the new one might still be usable so I'll give it a shot. The old R8 required head accuracy, but it seems that the new R8 might be viable at center of mass with its faster fire time and raw damage. Not against someone with an AK at any real rank, of course. But still.

But ya, I use the R8 and CZ-75 on T side. I use the R8 when pushing with the team at long distant engagements like A long; the CZ-75 for lurking or pushing close engagements like B tuns or B site.

In theory, it should be decent at pulling off a discount Warlowl strat, where instead of using Scouts and Mag7s, the players resort to R8s and P250s. If the enemy gets tagged by the R8, it's easy for the P250 player to finish him off, and vice versa. But basically, trying to get kills with the R8 alone won't likely pay off in the long run. I'd always try to hurt the enemy first, either by grenades or teammate's help, so it becomes a OHKO weapon in the body or groin.

tbh i wouldn't say the tec 9 etc was "nerfed" per say, it's more a re work as some parts (spraying etc.) were nerfed but some parts (single shot tap shooting etc. were buffed)

To be honest, I think just giving the R8 it's only slot would be enough to give it competitive relevance. If you want to push mid on Mirage an R8 might be a better choice than a deagle, however when say, pushing B, a deagle would be more effective due to faster firing speed and the ability to actually shoot as soon as you want to, in case an enemy hits you from somewhere unexpected.
