I was in ireland in 2016 family vacation, we played old head golf links, it was breathtaking, some of the holes were like a video game. The 18th hole back tee box was on the side of a cliff my knees were shaking, my son at 18 was like this is so cool

I was fortunate to play the magnificent Lahinch about 30 years ago, so loved seeing this video to bring it all back. My abiding memories were the blind par 3 - i didn’t realise such a thing existed - and a tee somewhere in the middle of the round from which there was no sign of a fairway or a golf course. We had no idea in which direction to drive and had to wait for the caddies in the group behind to catch up and tell us.

oh MAN I've been waiting for you to play Lahinch! I am a midwestern American that played Lahinch ONCE on a whim because of a nice stranger on a trip to Ireland years ago and I've yearned for it since.
@davidfarrell84516 ай бұрын
You really got lucky on that whim. It's one of the best courses on the planet. Jon Rahm says it's his favourite course of them all.

Amazing place. I was fortunate enough to play college golf at Illinois State. My Junior year, my coach scheduled the team to play a "match play tournament" against local club champions from SW Ireland. We played Lahinch, Killarney, Waterville, Ballybunion, and Tralee. The weather was absolutely terrible but it was an amazing experience. I shot 74 at Waterville, 77 at Tralee, 78 at Killarney, 80 something at Lahinch and if we had played more than 15 holes and counted all the shots at Ballybunion I doubt I would have broken 100.

Bravo Pete and so good of you to share. Lahinch isn't a long course as shown in the scorebook, but finding fairways is essential while battling strong winds. I think if you played it again you could shave off 3-5 strokes and shoot par. My oldest son and I have begun preliminary talks about a golf trip to Ireland. Having now seen the course courtesy of you, it would be irresponsible to avoid the west coast of Ireland. All the best and good luck qualifying for the Open!!

Even for a +5 handicap, you could tell that he was surprising himself with how many were falling. That had to be a mid-60's round unless he had a few blowup holes that we didn't see off camera. You could tell that he pitched a few shots within gimmie distance as well! Guys that are that good with no pressure on them, it's amazing to watch.

Totally agree! Have played Ballybunion, Tralee, Killarney, Mount Juliet, K Club to mention a few, and Lahinch tops them. Shot mid 70's there (I'm an average golfer) but my fondest memory was teeing off and only being able to see 150 yards due to mist. Having mist the green right with my approach I had a blind chip (the green is 15ft above you) which was received with words of "nice chip". Once I made it up the steep bank I could only see a ball 30ft from the hole, which was OK at best. So imagine my surprise when I walked past the hole and was asked whether "I would take my ball out of the hole?" Nice Chip is a bit of an understatement. Anyway, -1 after 1 and didn't see the ball finish for any of the 3 shots!

And what a player to play Lahinch with, TJ has been one of the best golfers in Ireland for years coming through the underage ranks and amateur ranks, should really try go America to play as he'd make it.. Just the wind Peter, Lahinch is special, you really need to play the wind, those high elevation Roryesque drives not the formula, need to playing down on every tee-shot. Honestly in my experience of Lahinch, that was a quiet day. A decent but normal blow in Lahinch is 40-50km per hour. A one iron is a great club in lahinch!
