@@SUVRVing One time I was at the Exit glacier in Alaska, all by myself. Soon, a van full of drunk German tourists showed up, talking loudly and making lot's of noise. One guy was trying to kick pieces of the glacier off. I went on taking pictures, but when they finally left a half hour later, I was again alone in the quiet with the awesome glacier.

Hey Tristan- For me, the “enchanted-ness” of the place came through loud and clear (or rather softly and quietly). What a special place! Yup, the crowd level has a huge impact on my level of enjoyment wherever I visit. In a place like that, I could sit for hours and observe. BTW, what time of year did you film this? Am trying to gauge best & most “human-free” time to visit. Thank you again for your uniquely inspirational content. It is very healing.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. About a year ago I discovered your channel and have been a subscriber since. I enjoy watching you go to all of these places and having these amazing experiences. I loved watching it so much that last summer I decided to try it out myself. I loaded up my own SUV and headed to my favorite mountain here in AZ. I camped for just a night but it was the most amazing and freeing experience. I then took my SUV to Zion national park with a friend and this time I upgraded my mattress from 2 thicker yoga mats to a futon mattress. Ever since that trip all I can think of is getting in my SUV- going, seeing, doing! March 12, 2021 will be my last day in the corporate world. I'm quitting a job that I've hated since I started and doing something I never even thought could be possible. Your adventures have inspired me to create my own adventures... to live, and that is the greatest gift I've been given to date. Thank you so very much.

Crowd level is huge for me. It definitely changes the vibe of an area when there are a lot of people, especially if there's noise. I'd rather spend a day in a less-beautiful place that's empty, over a gorgeous place with a crowd. I acknowledge that my presence has the same effect on others as well, so it's not like I'm thinking "I wish these people would get out of *my* way" or anything. It's on me to find the experience I want, so I just visit popular areas off season, mid week, early morning, etc. And I use the spring and summer to find new places that are lesser known.

That may help explain how it's mostly family groups that don't have much respect for the experience of others. I don't mean to be derogatory it's just they are fully connected with their people and don't have the attention span to take consideration of others.

As always, another great start to a Saturday with another great video! Regarding the question about crowds... I've always felt like places deep in the woods are ruined by large crowds, but then other places (like certain hikes I've done in Yosemite) ironically I thought were made better by having a few other people to share the experience with, have conversations with, get recommendations from. Of course, when there's so many people you can't move or park... that's never fun.

The crowds were hectic in the short accessible areas like Big Tree. People were loud and smoking and not fun to be around. As soon as we got on hikes one mile or longer we were the only people and it was pure bliss. Many hikes we would pass one person every hour or so. We asked the park rangers for hike suggestions and every one of them were epic. We will definitely be back for a longer trip so we can thoroughly enjoy the longer hikes. Thanks for your videos!

Tristan, what app do you use to measure distance, elevation and gain? Also, I really enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming. 👍

One thing, Tristan, about living at the coast, rarely does weather just sit and stay. Don't like rain? Just wait awhile.

Some people. Crowds no. Especially children who like to run all over the place. Also people who walk off the trail & abuse the area.

I dislike crowds. We went to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO last fall and the crowds were awful. It was like going to a concert. It was not like that about 15 years ago.

Herds have a HUGE influence in my choices. Period. I enjoy people, just not herds. Noise and smells....too much white noise... Yeah...Magical indeed! Wow! Your timing was pretty spectacular! Well done and Outstanding presentation!

Enjoying the place and the feelings of sacred are different events., bare naked awareness of of our smallness in the face of the mystery of life is only possible in solitude.

ABSOLUTELY REVERENT AREA! Prefer less LOUD visitors! Beautiful video! Would like to live on the coast only if I was in Idaho! Love this conservative state! Safe travels back home!

Redwood trees have shallow root systems, and can be damaged by people walking on them. Thank you so much for all the great videos.

Some places are worth the crowds...Zion, Yosemite, Grand Canyon etc., but nothing beats having a beautiful spot to yourself.

General Sherman Tree is at the north end of Giant Forest. The General Sherman Tree is the world's largest tree, measured by volume. It stands 275 feet (83 m) tall, and is over 36 feet (11 m) in diameter at the base. Sequoia trunks remain wide high up.

I visited those forests November 2019 and had the same feeling....magical. Have you visited Otter Point in Oregon? Spectacular views. I'm not a crowd person and enjoyed the solitude as well.

Oh yeah. It most definitely matters to me how many people are around when I camp. I hate the crowds in major parks, and I really, truly hate camping right next to others. It matters to me less than when I was very young, because, at 66 and usually solo, I feel a bit better knowing that at least some people are in the vicinity. But I still don't want them real close by. The solitude is THE THING. Or a big part of the thing. I went to school at Humboldt State in Arcata, and omg do I miss the Redwoods 😩

1st; Welcome! So glad you visited so close to my homestead (95437)! The good lord & we are on a lend/lease from the Pomo Tribe Indians, as I serendipitously took your retirement suggestion quite seriously a couple years ago and live a mile inland, a couple hundred miles south of Fern Canyon in a slightly smaller grove of majestic redwoods! You really should bring Cassie; especially if she's never seen them (redwoods). 2nd; Crowds? No. Especially since Covid. Just rather not go. Thanks!
