No. No due process camps is opposite of safety. That virus a few years ago wasn’t exactly safety. Actually the opposite. Another massive mass killing a few weeks ago. 160 million yearly ill from poor water. Awful cancer rate survival. Awful road accident stats. Terrible medical error deaths. Endless death from extreme heat and cold. Disappearing ministers. Disappearing children being snatched. Very average life expectancy. Air pollution causing terrible asthma and health problems. 2nd largest prison population globally. Way over 6000 yearly murders and obviously way more than that. Incentives for local police to keep stats low. And still over 5.5 million modern day slaves. Disgusting.

Extreme poverty means those are one step from starvation. The Chinese gov't also acknowledged that there are 100's of millions of people are living in poverty. At least, the gov't is working on lifting them up. The gov't knew they couldn't lift everyone up, so they let small group of people to get rich and lift other people up. That was the strategy. People can see their life is improving. This is why China still has a lot of growth.

I traveled to China for business at least 4 times a year been to over 13 different cities and I am just shocked how clean and safe the place are. If they have severe poverty there should be reports of theft and robbers but one rarely could bump into one.

Apart from Beijing，the other 9 megacities are all in southern China，located on the Zhujiang delta (2 cities: Shenzhen and Guangzhou), Yangtze delta (4 cities: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Suzhou) and along the Yangtze river (3 cities: Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu). 多伦多肯定是加拿大最发达城市，但房价没温哥华高。天津房价比重庆，成都高一大截，但天津却没啥活力了。影响房价因素太多，香港房价极高，曾经伴随着发达，但如今房价依旧很高，但发达不再。重庆，成都的地位和城市分级比较吻合，比不上一线城市，大致在新一线城市靠前。

Love and miss China very much, but this is not fully true. It should be added that Chinese cities are very dirty and stinky by western standards, even dirtier and stinkier than London, way more than London, so much so a comparison can't be made.
