if you don’t know the song in this video it’s known as “the most mysterious song on the internet”. It’s a new wave/post punk song that was originally played on a german radio station between 1982-1984. no one knows it’s name or who created it, leading to a several year search for it’s origins that inspired me to make this edit.

People think of this as a meme but keep in mind. One singular day in early 80s northern germany, a couple thousand people were listening to this song and of those, a whole lot might have been driving a car. This exact video - albeit in an abstract sense - has HAPPENED before and those people are mostly still very much alive. Hell, my close relatives might be some of them.

Old comment, but it's likely this song was made by GDR musicians who went to west Germany to get a label deal, but once the GDR caught wind of it they had them silenced. Either the GDR, or another Eastern Bloc nation, you have to bear in mind communist regimes can and would make people and media disappear if they disapproved of it.

This song was recorded from a German radio station called NDR between 1982 and 1984. Search (online) has been active since the early 2000s, when the song was made available online, and to this day no one has been able to give any accurate and correct information about the origin of the song. Facts like the band's nationality and exact year of recording are unknown, and to this day, we have not gotten any information about the whereabouts of the authors, or even the correct title of the song. Apparently there is no alternative online register/archive of this song, since the only source we have of this song is from the cassette tape that Darius recorded from the radio. "The Mysterious Song On The Internet" is not that mysterious anyway. Because we know this was in a German radio in 1982-84, we possibly have the right title "Like The Wind", it may be sang by the band "Depeche Mode" (compare the singer voice to the song "Personnal Jesus" and the voice to this song, looks very very similar to me), or also maybe by "Statues In Motion", because we know that the singer of the band Alvis Dean moved on in Germany in 1982-84 and probably recreated a 2nd demo to this song because he liked it. Like this song is still mysterious but, not reaaly. We got the full song, probably the right title, the location of the publication in radio, some between years of creation and publication, and possibly 2 band behind the song ( I honestly believe more it could be "Statues In Motion" the band who created this song, and I don't think it could be "Depeche Mode". Oh and also, it's impossible that it's "Camouflage" the band who created this song, because it don't fit at all with the voice or with the beat of the songs of "Camouflage". Actually 1983-85 is most likely when it made/played on the radio. It is NOT from 1982 because of the synthesizer used on it not being available till 1983. That is 100% proven.

Pretty sure they narrowed it down to either 28 September 1984 or 28 November 1984, the first one seems more likely. Edit looking at subreddit, most likely it was played on 28 September 84.
