At least for this one there wasn't a gooner lying about how they got the song snippet. Carl did everyone involved in the search dirty on that one. A wholesome ending as well as the band reunite and we probably will get hopefully a cleaner version of the song in the future. Also, not only we got the origins of this song, we got two more additional songs that as just as banger as this song.

The wild thing is that searchers had kind of found this band earlier but ruled them out -- several members were in '83 Horfest finalist band Phret, but were ruled out because all their songs were in German and I believe had a female vocalist at the time.

Little sidenote: The NDR1 Logo you used is from NDR1 MV - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In 1984 this was part of the GDR. The uploader is from Wilhelmshaven afaik in Lower Sachsony so it would be "NDR1 Niedersachsen" by modern standards.

You correctly state that movie footage that is missing and has not been archived is Lost Media. You then again correctly state that "Videogames' lost source" which I assume you refer mean videogames which are no longer accessible, are lost media. We both agree completely on these points. What you are misunderstanding here is that "Lostwave" is related to, but distinct from the previous types of Lost Media. The word "Lost" is "Lostwave" refers not exclusively to the media itself being lost (It sometimes can as in the case of the song Ulterior Motives and all of the other "Lostwave" songs that are not complete but rather short snippets of audio), but rather to the fact that the authorship of these songs are completely unknown (As with the case with this song.) Strangely enough, you make the assertion that "Lostwave" is just exclusively a term used in "your circlejerking spaces" which I'm going to assume means "The Lostwave Community" which is comprised of individuals who try to find these songs of unknown origin. You also insist that I should "NOT" use the term "Lostwave" in this comment section to refer to these songs which have unknown creators and performers. This is also an odd statement considering that this song fits the criteria of having a previously unknown authorship, and the fact that members of the Lostwave community helped to find the song. If you have a bone to pick with the Lostwave community or any of it's members, that's a problem between you and them. Not something you can take out on people on the comment section to a video discussing a "song of unknown origin" that has now been found. My only problem with this story is that the band member they got into contact with first felt entitled to have the information with held until he checked in with his former comrades. Dude this was all publicly gathered information and as such the people who found it had every right to make it public with or without your bloody consent. I get that they obliged out of decency and respect... but they didn't really need to. They whole internet DESERVED to know, whether he had ultimately allowed it or not.
