In this eye-opening video, I dive deep into a topic that’s not often discussed but is incredibly important: the likelihood of men raised by single mothers getting cheated on compared to those who grew up with both parents. Drawing from personal observations and conversations, I explore why these men might be more vulnerable to infidelity and the dynamics that contribute to this situation.
*The Naivety Factor*
One of the main points I touch on is the naivety that men raised by single mothers often exhibit towards women. Growing up without a father figure means they don’t see the day-to-day interactions and complexities of a husband-wife relationship. As a result, they might place women on a pedestal, thinking we can do no wrong. This idealization can lead to significant blind spots when it comes to recognizing unhealthy behaviors in their partners.
*Misunderstanding Relationship Dynamics*
Without the model of a functional marriage, these men might not fully understand the give-and-take required in a relationship. For instance, they might think it's perfectly normal for a wife to go out all weekend without considering how this could affect the marriage. They lack the frame of reference that would help them see such behavior as a potential red flag.
*The Victim Narrative*
When women share stories of how their exes mistreated them, these men are often quick to sympathize without questioning the other side of the story. They don’t consider that a pattern of 'being victimized' might indicate poor decision-making or toxic behaviors on the woman's part. This unquestioning support stems from their deep-seated belief that women are always in the right, a belief shaped by their single-mother upbringing.
*Provocative Questions*
Throughout the video, I ask you to reflect on your own experiences and beliefs. Do you think growing up with both parents makes a difference in how we perceive and navigate relationships? Have you or someone you know fallen into the trap of ignoring red flags because of an idealized view of women? Why do we sometimes choose to overlook these warning signs?
*Engage and Share Your Thoughts!*
I want to hear from you! Your thoughts, experiences, and perspectives are incredibly valuable to this conversation. Let’s break the silence and discuss how our upbringing shapes our relationship choices and vulnerabilities.
Thank you so much for watching! Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe if you found this video insightful. And please, share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. Let’s get this conversation started and learn from each other!

I was raised by my emotionally detached mother and her mother until I was nearly 11. Then, she moved out of state, leaving me with my father, who was mostly unavailable during my formative years, and his new wife. Not a good combination. Couple that with the fact that he was working and going back to college, had a new wife, and a new baby on the way; the wife had no experience with boys beyond her father and stepfather (she had sisters) AND the fact that my father was hyper-abusive. Because I'd been raised in my formative years by my mother and grandmother, I thought the way they thought, and reacted to external stimuli the way they reacted; not the way boys raised by fathers thought and reacted. His answer was beatings, interminable lectures, and humiliation (dressing me in my sister's clothes, for example). My stepmother told me that the key to winning a woman's heart was to approach them like a skittish cat, make friends with them, and basically treat them like young goddesses. She didn't say those words, but the things she told me that were necessary to win a woman's heart was exactly the opposite of what women today say turns them off (ie "guys being too nice"). It never occurred to me to even question my stepmother, because, after all, even though she wasn't my mother and I never really accepted her role in my life, she was still a woman, and she wouldn't lie about these sorts of things. It wasn't until a few years ago; more than 5 decades later that I've really begun to question everything I thought I knew about women, relationships, and so on. Too little too late, but even though I was friend-zoned my entire adult life, now I know what lies at the heart of that.
