Doing this exact install on my 2012 garage queen this weekend (well, the new Dynavin unit), and I just stumbled upon this video, which is really helpful. I was really trying to avoid taking off my bumper, too, so the tip to take off the taillamp and use the alignment hole saved me some time and grief. And you also put my mind at ease as to whether the camera would be in the right position…I was afraid it would be too low, and I’d just see pavement.

Install in my '12 Boss was super easy with the video. My wires (on Dynavin) were marked Camera (Brown Plug) and red wire was NOT marked power, but spliced into this with red wire and plugged yellow cable into brown. Cut the green (line wire) and that was it. Works perfectly. Had to drill bumper as 12 doesn't have the b/u light full trim piece, but camera looks OEM between the two '12 recessed b/u lights. Easy to install nut to secure camera by removed driver brake light. For

Unfortunately for me, my 2012 doesn’t have the convenient cover plate that yours does. I suppose I can manage drilling *one* hole in the bumper.

Update: The hole was easy to drill, the camera mounted perfectly and worked forst time! The red/black wires on the camera end were not needed at all, I just taped them off and tucked them out of the way.

That’s awesome! I ordered my Dynavin yesterday and than I ordered that same camera today. The camera is to arrive tomorrow (Saturday) the Head unit is scheduled for Thursday. Jacob R. Doty question about the additional red and black wire they have on the extension... did you just tape it up or cut it short then tape it up? I am guessing the Dynavin gives the 12v Power thus you not mentioning the power from the reverse lights. Remember I get my Dynavin Thursday. Can’t wait and want to have the camera ready. I went ahead and wired up the red to reverse and black to ground since I already had wired into the reverse on a wireless camera (I hated it). I guess the red wire at the head unit is a constant 12 volt source and the red/black is for on only when in reverse?

Easy! Get a micro SD card, upload photo to the card, plug the card into the front of the h/u, browse the files on the head unit on the card, then hold or press the buttons to see “set as start up screen” or something like that. That’s all I did except I put a photo of my logo lol

Where did you buy all your exterior carbon fiber pieces? Such as the licence plate holder, i can see you also have some pieces by the end of the difuser on each side, i believe you also have a front carbon splitter

So i did manage to install dynavin myself. Couldnt find the wire for steering wheel controls and didnt get the back up cam installed yet. My dynavin doesnt have a red 12v reverse trigger wire. My 'reverse' wire seems to be green but has no other info on it. Also, my backup camera did not come with those blue connectors.

Just picked up a dynavin n7 pro and not sure if they changed things from what i have and you have but no bullet connector on it. But how did you get around a trigger wire? I'm seeing Manny people have to tap into a reverse light wire. Or is it just something that the Nikita camera doesn't need? I connector the yellow/brown RCA connectors and tapped into the red power wire just like you did but still no video. I do have a cheaper camera but looks to be the same one dynavin sells. I've decided to order the nikita camera just for the mounting stalk versus the flimsy mount this cheap camera has

I installed this exact same set up last year. Your video was extremely helpful in doing so. However lately I’ve experienced my backup camera not working intermittently. At a cold start I’ll back out of my garage and it works. Drive it someplace and the camera stops working. Get it home, park it, try it again hours later and it works. No idea what is going on. It could be heat related, don’t know. Have you experienced anything like this with yours?

Yep. It was how I ran my wiring. If you watch my newest dynavin video I show it. When I ran my cable inside the kick panel it pinched the sheathing and shorted it. Easy fix though

@@JacobRDoty I called Dynavin today. They recommend I check all my connections. I started with the ground attached to a tail light bolt. It was barely hanging on. So re-ground it. I’ll see if that works. I’ll also checkout your new video. The Pro 8 looks sick, but I don’t want to spend the money all over again.

Weird my Dynavin radio harness doesn’t have any of those wires behind it. Alittle confused, I noticed you didn’t even mention the power and ground wires in the harness included. Wondering if those are needed to trigger the camera, I’ve already applied 12v n ground to those with no success.

When you take it out of reverse and screen goes back to the radio but then after a few seconds it goes black but just touch the screen to get back to the radio but then blacks out again is it a setting on the radio

I doubt you’ll answer back but how to you get the nut threaded on the backup camera. I was able to feed the wire and use the 3M to stick it but I’d like to try and get that but threaded in there if possible. Awesome content and super helpful!
