Funny thing is that if you play ethiopia you have a focus tree for collaboration so it would be pretty neat if they added small portion of ethiopian collaboration tree as a path for the puppet to take

That wouldn't make sense: Italian East Africa is ruled by an Italian prince. What you would need is to have a choice as Italy to either appease the King and lose the Ethiopian puppet focus tree, or to have a drop in stability but have a better puppet, putting a different Ethiopian leader in charge and having cores and a better focus tree.

They’ve definitely railroaded italy kinda sucking in a few ways if they go historical. Like most everyone focuses on not going with mussolini, and generally all those paths are pretty good for what they go for. But it’s pretty laughable to me how much it feels like you’re shooting yourself in the foot by playing historical, not to mention how if you don’t full cap ethiopia and they join allies (which isn’t too hard to avoid, but still), you might as well start over, as dealing with ethiopia’s resistance takes like an extra 6 months you don’t have just to deal with it. And due to time restraints, you can only realistically fix like two of your military branches. And that generally means picking between navy or army, bc you can’t just neglect air. Honestly, italy joining the war at all is kind of a liability for Germany, as w/o italy, it means no men have to be committed to Africa, the Mediterranean, or italy itself when italy is inevitably naval invaded, and honestly, Italy’s support is not worth those extra fronts, because even a successful italy doesn’t contribute anything the germans would care about anyway. Because even if a super powered Italy somehow takes gibraltar, malta, crete, and smashes the uk all the way from the suez to Belgium, while quickly occupying Yugoslavia and Greece, what does that do for the Germans? All it does is finally secure italy from a naval invasion, which is redundant if italy was never involved.

Because their goal was to put in the minimum effort on the dlc so they could maximize profits. I'm pretty sure they spent more money paying off youtubers to do sponsored videos than they did on manhours to make the dlc.

it's a shame that the region didn't get more love during WW2 itself, the British Africans played a significant role in the area at the time, maybe a choice to make a free Ethiopia/Abyssinia without the King actually completing his focus as a decision would be cool. Equally Amedeo had a strange relationship with Fascism at the time, it would be pretty easy to take what sources we have to turn that into a small focus tree. most players will probably avoid making the puppet just because they can keep factories that way.

There’s a way to get more factories out of it if you puppet all the possible releasables in Ethiopia then release Somalia and Eritrea as a puppet then let them do their factory focuses and once that’s done hit the button to form Italian east Africa
