I often find it useful to record something on a Looper when trying to carefully dial in a Parameter. That way I can really focus on how the sound changes as I move the sliders. It's impressive how much the "Impedance" can affect the overall sound. Thanks for the reminder. 👍

As a Helix user of about 5 years, I literally in the last hour have ‘discovered’ this feature ! Wow! It has been a revelation in taming a particular high end glassiness problem with my Charvel DK24. I had changed the pickups anyway (the stock ones were way too shrill for me) but there was something I couldn’t put my finger on - backing the tone control off a bit still didn’t achieve what I was looking for .. however dropping the input Z on the Helix to 250 or below immediately cleaned it up without impairing the feel or tone ! Helix really is the gift that keeps giving ..

Not sure why but on my rig, with single coils, I get more unwanted “noise” with Z at 1 Mega ohms. I have to dial the Z back a bit for my strat and tele. Kind of a subtle balancing act as you want the clarity without muffling the tone.

Thanks, Jason. Never got around to playing around with this myself. Interested in how this will react to modeling on my Variaxes. I really never use the magnetic pickups, except once in a while the P90s on my 59P, just because I love those.

I was wondering that, too. But I think it doesn’t have any effect on the signal using the Variax cable being as what he’s showing is an interaction between physical electrical elements. I’ll have to test it when I get home.

It's "Megohms" and "Kilohms" dude. Just because things went digital 'kilo / mega' doesn't mean Ohms did. We did fine without the extra vowels in the 60's and 70's.
