It's great to see the original version of this game get some well deserved attention, I think too many people give this game it slack for seeming too unoriginal and bland. It really was a good game for what it was worth and the extra features the Wii U version brought really made it stand out compared to the Switch port. Also happy birthday! Wii U IS different than PS2 and PS3. With the PS2 and PS3, you can tell there is progression since the number was incremented. It's very intuitive, even for anyone who isn't familiar with the PlayStation. But if you ask someone who's unfamiliar with the Wii and Wii U what the difference between the two based on the name would be, they wouldn't know.

It's so sad, you can see a lot of people saying that the Wii U is a bad console and when you ask them why, they have no idea what to say, "It's just bad". They clearly didn't even had a Wii U in the first place, and that's the problem, no one did and Idk why. Marketing surely had a reason for the console to be not known, but there's no explanation in people saying that the console is bad. I still have mine and play it quite oftenly even though the servers are no longer there, it's games are just too good to be forgotten.

Happy Birthday! There's some things you didn't mention in the video that I want to point out, First, the Player 4 situation. In the original version, It was just Mario, Luigi, Yellow, and Blue Toad. But now in Deluxe Blue Toad is just a skin of Yellow Toad that you can access by pressing L on the character select. This is all fine and dandy... until you realize that this means that they both take up the same character slot meaning once you select one you can't select the other. This means Player 1 is Mario, Player 2 is Luigi, and Player 3 takes up both toads. What's left for Player 4? Toadette and Nabbit! The "easy" characters! No matter what, one player will always have to be constantly babied by the game because of this with no other way around it. Some may look at that and say "Well, Luigi U always had this problem because they replaced Mario with Nabbit" and you WOULD be right... IF THEY DIDN'T BUFF NABBIT IN DELUXE! That's right ladies and gentlemen, Deluxe Nabbit is able to pick up Baby Yoshi's, Players, and other objects, he is less slippery than Luigi, adds 100 extra seconds to the timer (which kinda removes one of the whole points behind Luigi U) AND he gets dolphin swimming! He was not able to do any of that in the original game and the whole thing about Nabbit in the first place is that he's invincible with the trade-off being that he can't use powerups, this all goes out the window now that he can use the Pink Baby Yoshi as a replacement for the Squirrel Suit. Some other miscellaneous things about Deluxe is that is has a longer load time when going from level to level because the rendering software it uses is more complex than the one that the original game uses (In simple terms the rendering software is a program thingy that runs when the game is loading to produce the game's graphics) the reason why they switched rendering software's is because... the new one looks a little nicer, AS IF YOU CAN TELL! Oh and don't even get me started on the double-tap spin, this mechanic was so horrible that they even put in a cheat code to remove it (Pressing in the Left Stick for three seconds on the title screen). I believe they also used some different voice clips for the main cast, I know for sure Luigi's "pressing A on world map" sound was changed at the very least. But that does not compare to the TRAVESTY that was the change done to Nabbit's voice, he sounds like a little baby sucking on his pacifier. In the original Mario U, fighting enemies on the on the world map only gave you Stars and Mini Mushrooms, and then in World 9 the mushroom houses give the Propeller Suit and Penguin Suit which make sense given that they were power-ups from the previous console game (New Super Mario Bros. Wii) that you can now play around with now that you're done with THIS game. Luigi U then put the Propeller Suit in enemy battle starting in World 2 and introduces the Penguin Suit starting in Sparkling Waters-4 and Frosted Glacier-5, which again, makes sense as Luigi U was designed for people who wanted a little more out of Mario U so having postgame powerups appear regularly supports that design. Then Mario U Deluxe throws all that out the window and gives you the suits early for the sake of "convenience" so now the World 9 houses mean ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING! Also those bonus videos you were talking about? Deluxe actually didn't add those, in 2013 there was a Wii U bundle that came with Mario U and Luigi U on one disc and the videos were included in that version of the game, I would know because that is the version I own. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The videos in Deluxe use the Switch's crappy internet browser with a private URL to run the menu, meanwhile the Wii U combo disc repurposes the challenge mode menu so it runs WAY better than Deluxe's menu. Speaking of menus, the original menu colors match the games' main colors; Blue for Mario and Green for Luigi. In Deluxe, Luigi stays Green but Mario's menus are red now even though the main color for Deluxe is Gold. Gotta love the lack of consistency. The Wii U version is WAY better by a LONG shot

The way NSMBU takes advantage of the Wii U is so niche and uninteresting that it was kind of pointless. Things like boost mode ultimately do nothing to make NSMBU standout from NSMBW which is a big part of a reason for why NSMBU, despite being a great game, didn't get sell Wii Us. It was way to similar to NSMBW. A game like Mario Maker that takes full advantage of the Wii U would have been a much better launch title than a third nsmb game.

NSMBU in general is the best 2d mario imo if you’re able to overlook the production values. The level design in this game has never been topped with how multi layered it is. Wish it didn’t have the baggage of being a NSMB title. I feel like Nintendo knew how amazing this game was under the hood which was why they used super plays to promote the game and also designed a lot of wonder’s levels like a U level (though less complex than U’s levels, likely in part to accommodate the wonder flower and first time players).

I prefer this version because not only does it run quite a bit better, but also because it looks LEAGUESSSS better than the switch version. Worlds 3, 4, and 8 specifically have really nice graphics on wii u. And also New Super Luigi U was bundled with NSMBU on physical disc in around 2014 i think and its the copy i have. And that version of NSLU also runs way way better. And i forgot to mention the wii u version of NSMBU just has way better UI and graphic design overall.

That's incorrect. I mod the game and most models are actually still the same. Other than the backgrounds, which are completely new, most models didn't change, with few exceptions like Goomba and Koopa Troopa.

I do fully agree that this game is best on Wii U, though I will contest the claim that the only issues with the Wii U were its name and marketing. The library was fairly weak overall, especially in comparison to Nintendo's other consoles. The time between releases was painful, so few games were coming to it. And this is subjective, but I found a lot of games on Wii U to be among the weaker entries in their franchises.

Remember that what carried the Switch in its first days are the Wii U ports, such as BOTW and MK8DX. (Yes, BOTW is a Wii U port.)

MK8D fixed most of my big issues with the original game and turned MK8 from the most mediocre Mario Kart to a decent one, and the DLC years later turned it into a great one.

@@AboodXD My point was that no one was buying a Wii U for Breath of the Wild because the Switch version was available at the same time. That's why it being a Wii U port is moot - it may have been one of the few decent games on Wii U, but it was way too late to impact sales of the console at all, and was rendered irrelevant by a port on a new console with a fresh start at the same time.

Pacing is definitely not better. NSLU levels are too short. In fact, it just feels like the 100 seconds gimmick is there just so that they can make the levels short AF, out of sheer laziness.
