Pro Hoops Daily presents the top 5 overrated dunks in NBA slam dunk contest history. In the NBA dunk contest a 50 is the score given to a perfect dunk. The dunks on this list were given scores of 50 buy were far from perfect dunks. Players appearing in this list are Cedric Ceballos, Fred Jones, Vince Carter, Blake Griffin, and Dwight Howard.
Fred Jones is a Professional Basketball Player who is best known for winning the 2004 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Fred Jones played his collegiate basketball at the University of Oregon. He was selected by the Indiana Pacers 14th overall in the 2002 NBA Draft.
Cedric Ceballos is a retired Professional Basketball player best known for winning the 1992 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Cedric played his collegiate basketball at Cal State Fullerton and was selected in the second round with the 48th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in the 1990 NBA Draft.
Vince Carter is a Professional Basketball player who is best known for his amazing slam dunks he has earned the nickname half-man half-amazing and Vinsanity. Vince played his collegiate basketball at the University of North Carolina and was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the 5th overall pick in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft.
Blake Griffin is a Professional Basketball player who is a 5 time NBA All-star and is known for his posterizing dunks. Blake played his collegiate basketball at the University of Oklahoma and was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 1st overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft.
Dwight Howard is a Professional Basketball player who is best known for winning the 2008 NBA Slam dunk contest. Dwight’s NBA signature is his Powerful dunks on offense and being a ferocious rebounder and shot blocker when engaged on defense. Dwight played high school ball for Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy and was drafted straight out of high school by the Orlando Magic with the 1st overall pick in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft.

Jason Richardson between the legs of off the backboard dunk was better than any dunk Fred Jones had in that competition. The only reason Fred Jones won was because J-Rich couldnt connect on that between the legs 360 dunk

How is Vince Carter on the list? I know we've seen many people do the arm in the rim dunk now, but for the time that was the first time most people had seen a dunk like that. I have to disagree with that one but I agree with pretty much every other one though

Vince is the best, but I think his score was mostly because of the hype. That was a nice dunk but not a 50.

If that dunk was done today it shouldn't be a 50 because we've seen several guys do it and add to it like Hamidou Diallo, but when Vince did it back in 2000 not many had seen it at that time, specifically in an NBA Dunk Contest. I mean go back and look at how stunned and silent people where because they we're amazed by it

Dwight Howard's dunk was great....it was set up with some hype and it was different so it was a 10 for sure...the others are weak and the Vince Carter one is just odd. Good but odd...as the crowd didn't even cheer. And... Love how people hate on Dwight's dunk....love it. Deal with it....and he won because of it. I hope that dunk shows up in your dreams all the time every night!!! Do awesome...and now that I really watch it again it's the best dunk of all time ever in history!!!!

Jesus Christ is King Dwight Howard’s dunk was great in the moment, but when you look back on it he came up short, and just got lucky because he was able to throw it in.

You are right...he did get lucky...that is what made it cool too. It went right through...but he was smiling the entire time and played to the crowd...it was great from a theatrics standpoing and the crowd loved it...it is one of the best all time from that standpoint. If we look at the highschool dunkers today they blow away the NBA dunks easily. The young legs have springs and as you get in your 20's they almost always fade quickly...not always most of the time.

Number 5 you just need to practice a lityte bit and it would be a normal dunk , number 3 i can understand the difficulties, number 2 it's normal dunk when you drive right number 1,it's not a dunl but he realy put a great show that is the more important thing we don't care about how difficult it is we just want to see people jumping over a man multiple cars amd freethorw dunk

Ceballos's was overrated for sure... just silliness... He could obviously see. He changed direction towards the basket when starting the last 2 steps. Should have been a 30.
