Javier Baez has always been loved or hated by fans and I wanted to explore why this may be. He is a very exciting player that finds himself in hot water often so there is never a dull moment with him. Let me know what you think of him and anything you would want to see in the future. Thank you for watching!

The lack of specialization on that 2016 squad gave it such a little league feel, I love it. Also his lack of plate discipline is wild, he went backwards as he got older. I swear he decides whether or not he's going to swing before the ball is thrown.

That cubs team really felt like a close group of friends coming together to win. I’m a Giants fan but it was impossible not to feel good for them. His plate discipline is pretty extreme. It was very funny seeing him hit .771 in high school with 0 walks

Baez got a 6year 140 million contract. At most he should be guaranteed 10 a year with the rest available for games/innings played and certain performances metrics obtained. All baseball contracts should be done this way to ensure players don’t just stop caring. Now obviously the players should have protections (injuries and being intentionally benched not counting against them in this example).

I’ve been saying that ever since I’ve seen videos of people bashing Baez. I think he needs a change in teams because the tigers are known for being a bad team but if he was on the rays for example he would play better. He has the glove he just needs the bat

From what I have seen he needs to be in meaningful ball games to play at his highest level. The lack of meaningful baseball plus his personal life have definitely had an effect on his motivation to play to the best of his abilities.

Javi is Javi. The absence of impulse control is what made the magic, and it was magic. He fell out of Hall of Fame contention by 2019 and I don't know if when his career is over in 2 or 12 years he will even be considered to have been an above average player but in hundreds of tiny moments he was the greatest player, to watch, that I have ever seen, @72yo.

I feel the only miss you have in this video is your mischaracterization of the Tigers as a team with no hope and no future: Tork is about to hit 30 homers on the season, Kerry Carpenter has come out of nowhere to be one of the better pure hitting lefties in the AL, Riley Greene, when healthy, is just few less strikeouts away from being the .300 hitter he was drafted to be, and now the rest of the system is catching up. Justyn Henry-Malloy (3B/OF/DH), Colt Keith (3B/2B), and Parker Meadows(OF) are 3 of our top 10 prospects and will all almost definitely be in the majors on opening day next year, as well as a few complimentary prospects, namely Wenceel Perez and Eddys Leonard (both infielders), and our young pitching staff of Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, Matt Manning, and Reese Olson is maturing, again when healthy. With Miggy retiring, Schoop's contract ending, and a new front office getting the time to use this year as an adjustment period, I think it isn't all that crazy to expect the Tigers to make a real push for the Central in 2024, and hopefully that push will revive the spark in Javy. (although as a tigers fan that is known as Javy's chief defender I am a bit biased)
@TapirBaseball
@TapirBaseball 11 ай бұрын
I am sorry if I came off as saying the Tigers have no future. I just don't see them being in the position of competing while Baez is still under contract/able to contribute to a championship level team. I really hope they are able to make a splash in free agency to add some of the pieces they would need to compete once they shed the bigger contracts they have. I just want to see him in more meaningful games and if that is with the Tigers I think that would great as well. It was not my intention to come across as saying they have no hope what so ever, I just think the timing of the contract was strange when they have continued to need to rebuild with him but I hope they are able to put together a good team around him while he is still able to contribute.
