This is good material for me. While I'm currently Level 1- (or maybe 1- - ), hearing and seeing what you're doing is inspirational and helps me "hear" where I'm going. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks ! That's exactly the kind of content I need. If you could make the same kind of video for a bunch of other classic bluegrass songs that would be awesome.

Excellent video showing step by step how to progress from a very basic melody to a complex, take no prisoners, bluegrass arrangement. Thanks David.

Really like how it can sound messy and clean at the same time….. much like the soul this tune speaks of. Perfect match.

David, You are so great on your instrument. I appreciate your talent and the genuine desire you have to spread that others. Beautiful playing and great lesson!

Excellent David - and a nice idea to start simple and add different ingredients to get more complex. Good to categorize these tools (sliding, tremolos, syncopation, double stops etc) 😘

Love the tone of that mandolin. And the breaks are fantastic.

You always provide helpful content, David! I feel like I can get to level 4 or 5 but that last level will take some work! But it will be worth it! Thank you!

Dang man, get a fire extinguisher to put out the flames from your fretboard. 😂 Nice lesson! Thanks for the video.

When I'd play rhythm guitar in bluegrass circles in college this was a standard that got played every time. Ten years later and I'm finally learning mandolin and looking forward to finally taking a lead when the circle is reunited hah

Really nice that you put in a Kia Dee when our group does it in the key ofA. I also noticed you dropped the minor cord which is pretty prevalent most groups that play it but thanks anyway gives me a little idea of

Great lesson! I've been looking for ways to spice this tune up. But, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I had to slow down level 3 to 50% in order to get it.

This is really a great lesson. One thing that could be added is when tp use the different solos. I you are kicking and/or taking the first break you might want to use 2 or 3. A later break or a second break could be 4 or 5.

Great job, I like seeing the ratings scale, If you want to add a few more levels, you could get into 64th notes and cross picking. Those would probably be up in the level 9 and 10!
