I'm an amateur mandolinist at best, but I love the instrument enough that I've just purchased a The Loar LM520 to try to get better. Folks like you guys are such an inspiration to me. I hope one day I'm even half as good as you both are. I love the differences in style and technique that you both bring to the table, the way you each play the instrument in your own way and in your own character while still working together to make something beautiful.

I immediately hear two totally different approaches. Sam plays sort of slightly muted notes while Sierra lets the notes vibrate freely, until the next one comes, no matter the rate of progression. Sam Bush appears to have a more traditional stance compared to Sierra. Sam Bush has always has been my favorite mandolin player and a great singer. And here we are at the crossroads. Sierra with her overwhelming prowess of what can be done on the mandolin, and how different tones can be used are an important breath of fresh air.

There is lots of music I like, but I was born into Bluegrass. Lil Jimmy Dickens bounced me on his knee at my Grandmas house when I was a little one before his show at the town hall. He knew my family, and as all country folk know, that is what is important. Nothing warms my heart more than the bluegrass sound of mandolin's, fiddle's, banjo's, guitars and vocal harmony. Sorry folks. No other form of music can claim such a fan base as we have.
