I was in 2nd grade and living in Colorado in 1999. Everyone was here was still riding the wave of Elway leading the Broncos to back to back Super Bowls. The Rams took everyone by surprise. No one expected Steve Young to get injured and for the 49ers to collapse or for the Packers to miss the playoffs. Everyone was surprised when the Oilers became the Titans and went to the Super Bowl. 1999 was truly different season.

They changed the rules that year, specifically because of how dominant the St. Louis offense was, allowing DB's to contact with receivers far more then in years past. If you watch the game, the NE DB's were straight mugging the Rams receivers off the line, in some cases taking them to the ground. This definitively disrupts a timing offense. Once the Greatest show on turf was no more, the league changed the rules back to the old standard.

Recall how bad the Pats made the 2010 Bears defense look in a raging snowstorm in Chicago, after Moss had already been released. The Rams had a good 3 year offensive run from 1999-2001, but they couldn't maintain it. They carried the SB hangover into 2002 and never really got their offense in gear after that.

Every single one of those offenses scored more points and had a higher percentage of drives ending in an offensive score than the 2000 Rams. The 2000 Titans were fantastically good. They ended up losing to Baltimore but if I remember correctly they beat that Baltimore team twice in the regular season. 99 Titan's also gave the Rams a really good game in the Super bowl.

The Colts also picked Edgerrin James that year, and the next year they got Reggie Wayne to go with Marvin Harrison, and they got offensive and defensive linemen like Dwight Freeney, so it's not like the Colts were tanking when they got rid of Faulk.

Growing up I loved watching kurt, Marshall and the rams play. They were extremely entertaining. Being a die hard pats fan it hurts me to say this but they definitely were the best offense ever. The biggest difference between this team and the 07 or 13 broncos was they had a hall of fame running back who could dominate games. The pats and broncos didnt have that. Whats crazy is that not one of those teams on a championship the year they had there record setting offenses.

That offense is really the air Coryell offense of 20 years ago, which put up similar numbers. You can't have success with it unless you have talent at wr,qb,rb,and old. The downside is it doesn't control the ball to run out the clock and rest the d.

People try and say the 2007 Pats and the 2013 Broncos as better offenses but the difference is the Rams won the Superbowl the year they set records. The 2007 Pats and 2013 Broncos lost in the Superbowl. They also bring up that Warner only had 41 TDs while Brady and Manning had 50 and 55 respectively but the Rams actually had run game as well. Marshal Faulk was a beast on the ground. Also when you think of the Pats and Broncos you only think of their ONE year. The Greatest Show on Turf was MULTIPLE years.

Az Zahir Hakim was the glue to that team. His ability to take the top off a defense with his blazing speed opened up the underneath for Holt and Bruce on slants, for Proehl on possession routes and for Faulk and separation on screens. They jettisoned Hakim and they jettisoned their offense.

Brady got away with an intentional grounding and the clock was stopped when the running back that caught the check down was tackled and his knee was down with the ball inbounds. These are non-calls that benefitted the ne FRAUDULENTS offensive team during the 'game winning' drive. Kraft made sure Goodell, whom was the COO of the NFL at the time the FIX that was XXXVI was played, was elected Commissioner of the NFL when Tagliabue stepped aside.. One of Goodell's prime responsibilities while he was COO was oversight of the game officials. He got the job as Commissioner when Tagliabue stepped aside.. QUID PRO QUO.

I absolutely agree with you OBESPRING1982. Ref’s turned a blind eye to the Patriots unethical and dishonest plays. In that game Warner took a helmet to chinstrap long after he released the ball. Ref’s didn’t see a thing. It’s tough to run a route as a receiver with the Patriots defenders tugging hugging and knocking down receivers 20 yds down the field. They couldn’t keep up, so they cheated. Something the Patriots continued to do for more than 15yrs. All the team fines and game suspensions… this team will always have an asterisk next to their name. Starting with the brady tuck.
