The comparisons make absolutely zero sense. A “full force” swing from a sledgehammer completely depends on who is behind it. A vehicle with a much larger impact area, mass, and speed of 100+mph will instantly obliterate anyone. To be fair, the comparison is solely the force behind a punch, which is a single point that carries the whole mass of an adult male with the immense rotational torque generated by a professional fighter, to the hypothetical force generated by the entire front bumper of car going at a fixed velocity. And each of these is not evenly matched against one another. Also in boxing you can more or less pick your fights, its one of the main reasons mayweather is undefeated.

But an MMA champion has to know how to defend against kicks, punches, submissions, takedowns etc. It only makes sense that boxing champions reign for longer. Drywall sheets are generally 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) thick, and 4 feet (approx 122 cm) × 8 feet (approx 244 cm) in width and length. After they get hung on the stud, you cover the seams (where the sheets comes together) with a drywall tape and mud compound. Let it dry and then sand it down to create a smooth finish to where you cannot tell that there are multiple sheets hung...if done properly, it will look like one solid piece of drywall, then you primer it and paint it...hope this helps

Record breaking statistics from the UCF Performance Institute are not just random guesses without realistic and accurate measurements. If it doesn't make sense, then you probably don't grasp the basic physics concepts behind it, that's all. Clearly a sledgehammer or a Ford will do more damage than his punch, but comparatively their driving forces can be equal. You guys have to think about why their physical properties make that to be the case. A 12 pound sledgehammer is made up of very dense, solid steel with a concentrated area of impact. With its density and structural properties, it will clearly do more damage than his fist in a glove, but the the force behind his punch compared to the 12b sledgehammer dropping from overhead is the same. A similar concept explains the Ford Escort. A car clearly has more mass than his arm, and not only that, the car also has more momentum following up to its impact which explains why the damage is far worse from the car. Again, as with the sledgehammer, Francis Ngannou's punch is being driven at the same force of the car, but the effects of impact differ to due to density and mass ratios. They are not saying the damage out put is equivalent, but that their power and speed are matched. I've already written too much but I won't spare you from the actual numbers. Horse power is a measurement of power which if you read what I wrote in my own explanation comment I explained isn’t a valid measurement. The traditional measurement for a punch is psi which is pressure and has the unit psi (pounds / inch^2). He could have used the term psi or any other measurement of pressure and your argument would have some grounds. But he didn’t. He said horsepower of the fighters fist is 90 some odd horsepower which is probably comparable to what the Ford gets. Though measuring the horsepower of a punch doesn’t make any sense (which is why we don’t measure punches with power - we use force (Newton’s) or psi). He made the comparison of a Ford at top speed and his punch which is why I bring up momentum and collisions (because this is a collision problem which is always solved using momentum and sometimes kinetic energy). You obviously didn’t understand anything I said because I agree with you on your original comment😂. I was saying that the reason why the Ford would purée you and the fist doesn’t is because of momentum.

I’m a physics student and here’s what I have to say if you care: He’s confused about the Ford escort. 96 horse power is a measure of how much power the engine can produce per second. To find the power of his fist you would use that power is equal to work (force dot product with the displacement) divided by the length of time the work is done in. This is basically how fast you can transfer kinetic energy. The momentum of the hand is the mass of the object multiplied by the velocity of the object in the direction of resultant velocity of the two objects (assuming the fist and face dont bounce off eachother - inelastic collision - this is also a dot product). Since we are talking about collisions we want to use an impulse momentum model. So thatd be comparing the mass of his fist and arm multiplied by the speed of his hand vs. the mass of a car times probably 42 m/s. The confusion likely comes from him using the horsepower of his fist at the instantaneous moment that I contacts his face. The amount of “power” which is watts (or horsepower) and impulse (the amount of momentum transferred) are very different. What we really care about is the impulse (the amount of momentum transferred), since this is a collisions problem.

Thus absorbs all the force of the punch. When a fighter gets hit in the face in combat sports, like when Overeem got uppercutted by Francis, his head had space to travel. Also the target is not stationary. You can generate a lot more force if the target isn’t going to move. Like karate guys breaking bricks.
