Why not use two injectors and let them fire after each other. Like it is a two cilinder basically. This would half the injector rpm
@daszieher5 жыл бұрын
My thoughts, exactly. He should have a cfd analysis to time the alternating injections into the air moving to the transfer ports. However at 19k rpm and methanol, you are basically dumping continuously anyway.

Hi, Just like you, I've been told 2S injection is really difficult. But I never follow any advice :D I designed an arduino based EFI for 50cc and it works very good at my max rpm ~14500RPM. I can't say for 19K RPM but I tested injectors up to simulated 20K, it seems to work properly. The thing is that you need a big injector. I started with 140cc/min injector (original CBR125) but it went over 90% duty cycle on a 50cc. Now I'm using a 200cc/min and it's OK. In the internet people usually say it's too big because it won't be accurate enough at low RPM (due to insufficient opening time to deliver a small amount of fuel). Actually my engine has never had such a good idle with that injector. Anyway, do not listen people who never tried and just do it as you always do ! Good luck !

That concept on a valveless engine can actually work. If the pulses are lined to each other, which I expect to be a steady stream of air at 19 000 RPM. That means you have to close the open intake when you are going up to speed before that. And must close the carburetor when you will open the intakes. I would recommend to put your injection system along your intake trumpet, to encourage spray(because you will do constant injection), and ensures your air has oil/fuel in it(makes air a lubricant) and is simpler, does not need special setup for your crankcase. The issue here is operating injector in constantly open(like power jet) is the pressure. You would need to calculate pressure(negative) in the crank at the RPM range you are using the engine, and adjust the fuel/lube delivery as needed. Since it is set up on the velocity stacks(trumpets) there is easier measurement of AFR. And about setting up cooling, I would like to recommend to weight up the front half of the frame in order to inhibit front-end lift(aka wheelie) and to make the rear tire push into the load. It will be running a straight line, so you can also try lighter rims and such in order to reduce inertial lag(which makes reaching top speed bit longer due to rotating mass). Can also help with slowing down, if needed. About the reciprocal mass, can it safely do 19 000 or more RPM? Balancing would be great, and add the CVT drive on balancing to quell some oscillations that may happen(unlikely).

@DrZoidbergism5 жыл бұрын
Direct injection would mean you'd need to inject oil separately in the crank case which would mean even more injectors.
@paultinwell55575 жыл бұрын
I believe you mean a piezoelectric driven injector rather than solenoid driven. Yes, they're much faster opening and closing, dramatically reduce dribble and greatly increase accuracy of metering... but finding an injector with the necessary flow rate to run on methanol is likely to be exceptionally difficult. Not to mention the difficulty finding an aftermarket ÉCU that'll drive it. Not impossible of course with some device between the injector and conventional ÉCU that can drive the piezo, but that's a pretty specialized subject with few published data. Better to focus on the engine development, where there are more than many problems to address already!

Where did you find this about Sulfuric and Nitric acid impurity? A quick google didn't support this info. Nitric acid from production cycle should be neutralized? As far as MSDS of chemical reagent goes no acids should be in the mixture. However if you are speaking about nitro-methane after oxidation might produce nitric acid. Sulfuric acid seems unlikely, cause sulfur poisons catalysts and would be unlikely fuel supplement. That is why currently you have to be below 4ppb S in fuels.. Maybe it depends on the suplier?

If I remember correctly they were actually made for them by an Italian company that (as far as I know) is still around. Older FI systems were full time injection anyway as well as Drag engines. The only reason you need to fire injectors is for fine control over a wide engine speed range to ensure the engine meets emission standards...aaaaand, I don't reckon you'll need to be concerned about that. Re intake valve question, some people forget that the transfer ports are the equivalent of intake valves to the cylinder, the reed or disc valve or piston is only the "valve" to the crankcase.

Really like the crank case design! Especially the “inlet tract to transfers” transition is very nicely executed and looks well modeled. 👌 Regarding cluttered 3D-models it just sounds like any other professional design engineer. 😆 With experience some of it goes away, but not all. 🤦♂️ Don’t be afraid to take a “clean sheet of paper” when the model starts to clutter up and start all over again. It’s sounds really tedious but with a god reference/skeleton model that drives the main geometries and details, it’s worth it big time and often faster. A more stable and bug free model is a nice side effect. Good luck! Great to hear the chassis, that I was a bit critical about certain areas, worked well. 👍 With a couple of parts falling of I’m sure you will have a overall look to the frame to find out any structural issues. Even if the limited amount of running time makes it rather unlikely.

@gallupcustomknives22935 жыл бұрын
Excellent work! I’m curious though about the open inlet trumpet, how will it be closed off during the carburetor warm up stage? Otherwise it would act like a gigantic vacuum leak no? A quick solution would be a simple butterfly, like an automotive fuel injection throttle body, except without an idle circuit built in, as that will be coming from your carburetor. Just a flat butterfly with a straight rod, say 5mm diameter, with a 2.5-3mm thick brass butterfly plate. Just need a stop at WOT, could even be controlled by a small solenoid or servo to have ‘on’ and ‘off’ settings, with no spring needed for return to closed position, as it would be electronically held closed when not using the WOT circuit. Your thoughts? Keep up the amazing work!

You familiar with Husqvarna's Autotune carb/ignition setups? Kind of a hybrid developed on your side of the planet and while certainly not capable of fueling something making the power you aspire to...maybe multiples. But the concept might be something u can replicate or use. They have a solenoid operated control valve in the carburetor...and have a very simple feed back loop between throttle position, ignition (rpms), and carb temp (not important). Has effectively three conditions it deals with, Starting, Idle/low rpm, 80 percent or more throttle position. In the throttle open condition it does a lean out test for 5-6 revolutions at predefined time intervals.....shuts the fuel valve and if during it's 6 revolution test the motor picks up RPM's, the mixture was rich, if the motor slows down the mixture was lean. The mixture is controlled by that solenoid operated valve "cycling" open and shut effecting supply to the carb...needs more fuel it stays open longer in the cyclical pattern, if the saw (these are chainsaws) needs less based on the "lean out" test that valve stays closed longer...so always trying to get max RPM's under load. They are rev limited for the different saw applications, one being 16,000 rpms, They have a little memory where the history of those operation conditions are stored (fuel settings)...so we can see where the mixture was along with a few other parameters. Reason I ask is something along those lines feeding fuel to what ever your "mixing" device is might be a way to keep the mixture in the crank case where you want, using that type of logic. And the motor just draws what it needs based on your mechanism for feeding the combustion chamber from that "pool" or reservoir in the crank case.

if you need to fire a lot of fuel in a short period of time you need a lot or HUGE injectors and high fuelpressure , maibe run two systems and do one side per revolution (gives the systems about half pulses and more change to build up the pressure needed think you can get the tank to have a dimple for the chin pushing the air over the top of the helmet and maibe some widening toward the knees , you need a tank for the icecooling , and i dont think they have a maximum size for a tank and you can make an interesting fairing from it (not passing the body of the racer but more like an arow point in front of the rider) about building up cilinders with nickasil . friend of mine repaired high performance kreidler cilinders , he did that by turning down the fins and a lot of the outer part of a stock cilinder to a cilinder with about 3 or 4 mm wall thickness (aluminium with a nickasil coating) then reamed out the high performance cilinder and presfitted the new cilinder before opening up the ports to the ports of the hp cilinder , worked pretty good actually and mahle is known for making high quallity cilinders with the nickasil coating might not be best thermical wize but you can do a lot of work to the ports before covering them up with pressing in the cilinder might even be possible to machine a billet cilinder that way

If I needed more than WOT at constant rpm/load that would be the way to go!

If you to make it with injection, you should put 2 injectors so they would be activated 1 / 2 of the time/rpm

I'm re-watching some of your videos. Had a thought... what about direct injection with two injectors, each switches half of the duty cycle. Speeduino can handle a dual injection system on a single cylinder. Just a thought. Best of luck. 👍

Just thinking out loud. Maybe an injector (pre combustion) chamber would work? And a tip maybe you can get some ideas of the big 2 stroke engines they use on board ships. Have worked with them myself and most is also working on small gasoline engines. An a completly out of thr box idea would be to great a big exhaust port with valve in top part of cilinder and injection🤔 than you can go turbo easier something i still want to try with 50cc

i didn't understand how can it work without a valve. the crank will alwais be open or what?

Looking forward to the fuel injection testing! I'm still trying to work out if you're going to need the world's smallest injector because you can't pulse it, or if it won't be too bad because you'll be at full throttle all the time and with nitromethane you'll need lots of fuel too. Curious to find out!

First attempt will be with parts from a pwm controlled water/methanol injection kit. 100ish psi + 1mm nozzle should give me ~ 500cc/minute. On paper this should work fine. On paper...

Fusion is a yunger brother of 3D modeling software Inventor. Give it a try. Fusion is based on it. The workflow in Inventor is faster and more organized than Fusion. I am using Inventor for couple of years. I am using allso Fusion for programing the milling programs and I strugle when modeling in Fusion. Steps when creating something are realy long. In Inventor you use the same features. They are just more "reachable" in Inventor. Give it a try. You can thank me later. Best regards from Slovenia.
