I was intimidated by The Ocean at the End of the Lane too. A friend told me I needed to read it and let me borrow his copy. I’m so glad I read it. It’s not something I would have picked up on my own, so I appreciate my friend pushing me.

You should get The Fall by Ryan Cahill. It's the novella that goes before Of Blood and Fire. I'm not usually a big novella fan, but this one is great! Dragons, betrayal. It's short too!

Good luck with this TBR! 30 books in 30 days was hard for me to do, even though I was reading mostly picture books. LOL And now, I have the gym and I have to figure out what to cook and I'm slow, so this would be hard for me to do. However, I would like to take the time to read all day for many days of the month at one point. Hoping to be able to do this soon but who knows.

The thing you should know about The Ocean at the End of the Lane is that it is quite speculative. I gave it a 3 because I couldn’t really tell what in the world was going on. But I don’t really care for speculative fiction and it was all a bit superfluous for my taste, so if you like that sort of thing you will probably enjoy it!

In Earthlings there was a scene that made me have an angry-crying meltdown, otherwise an amazing read! I thought it would be funny-weird, but boy was I wrong... Nothing funny about that book. It was in my top 5 reads back in 2021. Also, I finished Tyranny of Faith a few weeks ago and loved it more than Justice of Kings, which was already a great book.

Ocean at the end of the lane has domestic violence (emotional and physical) from a father directed towards the child main character (not sure if that is an issue for you, but I know you've mentioned something to this effect before)
