I LOVE how the author of the book produced and was the screenwriter of the movie AND also produced and wrote on the Netflix Series. Both are AMAZING! So many overlapping lines and scenes honestly!

Beautiful movie. What beautiful chemistry on screen these two have.

I just finished the Netflix series of "One Day" and it was equally as lovely and heartbreaking as the movie. Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod are the perfect Dexter and Emma for this new Interpretation of the book.

100% agree, I felt something more with the netflix series than re-watching those same lines done here. They are good in their own right for sure, but Leo and Ambika I think gave it more authenticity.

Leo Woodall is such an amazing actor!!!! I love the series even more than the movie.

@@MegaTeodoraA i agree with you. We all who read the book and watch the movie and cry about Emma , expect Something different. Leo, instead, was so remarkable.

For how many times i watching this movie it still make me cry, i really so understand this to much when you realize that your best friend, favorite person whom you always need no longer in this world it feel like earth stop moving and everything become dark

In the movie, Emma is so endearing in an innocent, funny way, which is what Dexter enjoys about her. You can see why they became friends. TV series made Emma so whiny, serious, brooding, and judgy. I wondered why Dexter was friends with her even.

You hit the nail right on the head. Someone like Dexter would not have been friends with series Emma for all the reasons you stated.
@merrsadizsmith54518 ай бұрын
Have you read the book? The show version is much more faithful to Emma (even makes her more likable), than the movie Emma.
@IndieCindy38 ай бұрын
@@merrsadizsmith5451 I read the book back when it was all the rage and before it even became a movie. Thought Anne was a wonderful Emma. I think Ambika Mod is beautiful, but she was such a sour-faced Emma. I could not for the life of me believe that someone like Dexter would remain friends with her version of Emma. As the original person commented, Anne’s Emma was super endearing and you could feel a warmth to her that is seriously lacking with Ambika’s cold portrayal. Her “I thought I’d gotten rid of you” line came out harsher than it should’ve. If someone were to screen capture the entire show, I’d be that over 85% of the images would show a sullen-faced Emma.
@merrsadizsmith54518 ай бұрын
@@IndieCindy3 that’s my point. You keep comparing movie and show Emma. Emma in the books is not warm or endearing. She’s self righteous and rude for the most part, in the book I don’t understand how their friends either. That’s why I said show Emma is much more faithful to book Emma and even with that being said-they made her much more likable than she is in the book.
@IndieCindy38 ай бұрын
@@merrsadizsmith5451 almost everyone is comparing movie and show Emma. I rarely see anyone mentioning book Emma, so I commend you for referencing the actual source material. Again, it’s been nearly 15 years since I last read the book. I just remember really liking Anne’s Emma and I felt that Ambika’s portrayal was less likable.

I completely agree!! The Netflix series made me really hate Emma because she was so critical and judgmental and bitter all the time, and it felt like they had zero chemistry despite the fact that Leo gave his all to that performance. He was great throughout and I really felt like he liked Emma the whole time but I never felt like Emma liked him back. In the film, the tension is palpable in every scene. They have amazing chemistry.

I just started watching the series and I thought I have surely seen this story before and realized I did. To be honest, I don’t think I could continue watching the series. They really don’t have the chemistry and you are right with everything you said. Bad casting for the female actor.

It is interesting though how the author of the book produced and was the screenwriter of the movie AND also produced and wrote for the Netflix Series. I actually thought there were many overlapping lines and scenes honestly where the series mimics the movie, but it makes sense since the author was a part of both.
