4:11 The person who performs CPR on Frank Castlr is David "Microchip" Lieberman (aka "Micro) who at the time was the Punisher's go-to tech guy. Also the man performing CPR on Nick Fury is Alexander Pierce (then a member of S.H.I.E.L.D) while the woman watching is Kathleen Neville who used to be Nick's love interest. It's clear that the people who made the game were huge fans of the franchise and they clearly did their homework.

The three Final Fight continue screens were equally disturbing and frightening in their own special way, but the arcade version Ninja Gaiden (Shadow Warriors) had the best (and the most disturbing) continue screen in history in my own opinion: the buzzsaw slowly lowering down on the character, killing him if a coin isn't inserted in time. Disturbing but fascinating.

My favorite is Mortal Kombat 4: Just watching them fall was kind of hypnotic & for me anyway it was so good i never did put in another quarter to continue! The ending to this video is your best ever! Going to be hard to beat that ending! This comment is over. If you like to continue you have 3 seconds to hit continue. 3 - 2 - 1 - 0. GAME OVER.

While Tecmo Knight's continue screen was pretty gruesome, the intro screen was the stuff of nightmares. On the screen, a creature had its mouth wrapped around a man's head and its claw around the man's arm. A few seconds later, it snapped the man's head off and ripped his arm out of its socket. If that wasn't bad enough, on the next screen, it shows a woman being held down by her neck by a large green hand with a terrified look on her face. Seconds later, she's stabbed in the face with a sword. Those are images that have been with me since I was a kid and I'll never forget them.

I love the MK4 one, they fall for 10 seconds, given the terminal velocity of a person is about 120 mph / 200 kmph, means they are falling 556 meters, or half a km, or 1/3 of a mile. The spikes are redundant, a fall that long alone would kill you, and they never even hit the sides!

@@Hypno_BPM MK 1 is on earth, MK3 is on earth, MK2 and 4 handle the same as 1 and 3. IE The jumping is the same, the projectiles travel the same speeds, walking and running are the same. So it's safe to assume even though they take place in different realms, the gravity is close to the same as earths. If Outworld or the Neather realm handled differently, floaty like the moon, or labored like Jupiter, I would have factored that in.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I'm making a 3d FPS game, childhood hobby... determining on what situation causes the player to lose his life, I've made similar retro slideshow animations depicting events... somewhat gratuitous violence but at the same time somewhat humorous. Although it's not an arcade game it's definitely a throwback to this era where they emotionally tugged at our heartstrings for cash. When my game is complete people will definitely know what generation I came from I never witnessed the Ninja Gaiden continue screen, thank God... What about a history of Juno First? One of my faves, but also pretty obscure. 👾🕹

Great video as always! I had a feeling Ninja Gaiden would be on the list.

Haha this was a smart concept to make a video on, the fabulous continue screens. Only, I think on the continue screen of that Ninja Gaiden game, if you listen carefully, you will hear two grunts when the timer reaches zero. One from the ninja and the one that sounds like the Sumo guy that you fight on the 1st stage, before the 'Game Over' is shown. 😊

What a great idea for a video. I immediately thought of Shadow Warriors (Ninja Gaiden) when I saw the title 😱

What's the game shown near the beginning, with the sleeping dog on the Continue Screen?

I love the MK4 continue screen, and the Ninja Gaiden one even though I've never played it. It's just so gruesome, lol.

2:55 I never noticed that detail. The other players are tied with rope, but the ex-wrestler Haggar is restrained with chains!

It's a little hard to take the Slam Masters "death" seriously because Haggar's body falls outside the frame showing the locker room. His head, arms, and one of his feet are sticking out of the frame, and it's honestly kind of silly looking.
