Oh, the level of snarkiness in this show is top notch. I absolutely love Minerva Crawley. Yes, I know her character's name is Violet, but I'm a Potterhead and I still love Maggie Smith. 😊

They left out a lot of "savagery" by Mary, Mr. Carson, and Mrs. Patmore, all of which are bossy and opinionated at times. Also Thomas and O'Brien are jerks in the beginning. But they're British, there's not going to be much yelling.

a) dialogue just means people talking back and forth so by definition people sniping at one another IS dialogue b) that is most certainly not ALL that they do. They are often discussing matters that are important to them and they do support one another. c) many families do snipe back and forth in good fun as well as in anger. Their sniping, at least in my view, makes it that much more realistic.
