Man I don't know but listening to this and some other battles from GBB 2017 after listening the kickback battle seeding rounds (all except Robin's one) and I felt nostalgic because I thought, now that's true beatboxing loopstation right there, now I feel that some of this soul or essence it's being lost because some of these songs don't sound like beatboxing as these rounds from the past, I am not sure if I am the only one but I hope there will be a solution in the future

I feel you and I think it's because of pitch manipulation. The robot effect automated pitch adjustment really brings the music far away from beatbox.

I expected Tioneb vs Gon TBH. The round against Ibarra shown here was definitely a stronger counter and was longer/a full routine counter but the one vs Gon hit harder to me as a counter b/c he took the basic idea and just did it way better without even having to take much time for him to do. It was so decisive at saying "I can do what you did but way better" while also looking completely effortless.

edit: I figure it out with everyones help. Robin GBB 2017 Ohh man, Tioneb's freestyle skills are just incredible. His match against Saro at the 2017 GBB was so much fun. And maybe you can help me remember this moment Brez (I cannot remember who it was) but at one of the GBB someone did a round that was just insane. They recorded their sounds and it was a unique sound, but didn't seem like anything special. But then they used some feature of the loopstation to play their track in reverse and BOOM all of a sudden the sounds made sense. The words were now actual words. It's hard to explain but like if I record the word "pintac" and then use the loopstation to play it in reverse then you hear the real word "catnip". But their whole melody and beat with the words was done like this. It was just mindblowing when they did this and I never heard anyone do this on the 505 before. It was so incredible to have the skill to make the sounds and it all seemed like a mess, but in reality they were literally saying words backwards and knew exactly what they were doing. Still to this day I never have seen anyone else do this again but it would be incredible to see it happen. I hope maybe you know who did this or what round in a GBB it was (I think maybe it was MB14 but i'm not sure) I will try to watch some videos and see if I can find it.

@@BreZBeatbox YESSSSSSS ~!!!!!!! That's IT !!! It was Robin in the 2017 GBB against Tioneb. Ohhh man I can't wait to see you cover this in an upcoming episode. This performance by Robin was one of the first introduction I had to GBB and loopstation. I never knew about it before then, I only knew about regular beatboxing. And through beatboxing I saw Tom Thum using the loopstation and it blew my mind. And from one of Tom's videos I ended up on that GBB 2017 of Robin. This all made me admire a whole new community. I hope one day to get an RC-505 and make try to make music. I wish I had found this machine when I was younger, but better late than never.

I remember discovering beatboxing and loop battles in 2017, and after watching a couple battles I stumbled upon this one... and dayum, instantly fell in love with MB14. But later on I came back to the video to ask people if MB14 had a fight with slizzer or something, because this battle ROFL. MB14's other round is almost as aggresive (and I love all of it lol). 6:24 is genius as hell btw. That way of making the buildup AND the drop with the same melody is insane.
