One of my sons and I just did this hike on a recent camping trip at Ricketts Glen. We hit the trail at 6:30 and by time we got back the parking lot was full. He’d been asking to do this trail for a while. I truly appreciate getting to relive and scout out new trails through your videos. I’m really enjoying your PA wilds series, I don’t want it to end. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful footage. I was raised about an hour and a half from Rickett's Glen unfortunately I now live in England, but it is great to see your video. I forget how peaceful the Pennsylvania forests can be. Wish I was there as well.

Glad the video helped bring back some fond memories. Pennsylvania may not have the biggest mountains or staggering scenery, but the forests are truly beautiful. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

I have a favorite picture that I took one time when I was there I posted it on google map for Rickets Glen. It’s not a waterfall picture but of one of the lakes in early morning and it was foggy there is a couple of picnic tables and fire ring with a reflection in the water! It’s hanging in my room. Reminds me of good times in Pennsylvania!

@@gaylenealis7268 That sounds beautiful, I have many fond memories of camping and visiting there myself, including a time where me and my brother camped in a tent through the remnants of Hurricane Katrina in 2005!

I'm hiking there with a friend Friday. Always look forward to my adventures at Rickets. Its the state park I grew up going to. I'm from Wilkes-barre so its my backyard literally. The park is absolutely breathtaking inthe fall when the leaves change over. For those who have never visited Rickets, it's a must

Yes I can't argue with you on that one! If anything it's too popular. Many years ago you could drive up on a lark and grab a campsite. Now they are practically booked full the entire year. Thanks for watching, cya on the trail!

I used to go there so much I would time myself, from 118, up to waters meet, to the top, across highland trail, and back down the opposite side to waters meet, and back to 118. Best time ever was 50 minutes. I'm an old fat bald guy now, that was way back in the 90s.

Word of advice---if you're going to hike Rickets, it's best to visit early in the week Monday or Tuesday. On beautiful spring or fall days, it's gets real crowded with out of state traffic. I enjoy going there early in the week during the mornings. I only live 20 miles from it

There are bears in that region for sure, but the Falls trail is very popular and I would expect that they tend to avoid that area. If you like to shoot waterfalls, well, this is the place!

Just did this trail. Its brutal. Idk how you guys act like some of these trails are walks in the park. I couldnt walk the day after doing this thing. Its basically miles on a stair climber.
@WALTERZOLNA Жыл бұрын
Every person has a different level of ability, experience, and fitness level. This is certainly a challenging hike. I would always encourage anyone to do there proper research before trying a trail they are unfamiliar with. Brutal... maybe... Beautiful... certainly... There is so much range in the spectrum of humanity...

Unfortunately, the trail is a victim of its own popularity. The increase in foot traffic since the start of the pandemic is well documented and easily observable. It's a tough balancing act between allowing the public to access these beautiful places without damaging the fragile ecosystem with no easy answers. The Pennsylvania state constitution very clearly states these public lands are to be preserved and used by the public in perpetuity, yet we all recognize there is a severe overcrowding issue and the various nuisance issues that come along with that - namely trash, vandalism, ruin of the esthetic, and environmental degradation. I thank you for your comment as I have given great thought and consideration to this issue.
