Hey Ian, glad the package arrived safe and unharmed. Just to help you reference some of the images and auto's I sent you, the classic commodore you referenced in Marlboro colours is that of the Legendary Peter Brock, also the Poolrite Monaro in the larger image is also Brocky and you will see him at the wheel. This image was taken back in 2004 at Oran Park coming out turn 12. The yellow #427 Monaro is the 2003 Bathurst 24hr winner and this image was taken coming out of McPhillamy Park heading to Skyline, although this image is from the 2004 event which she finished 2nd to the #05 Monaro of Brock, Bright, Kelly and McConville. The Blue Valvoline #33 Volvo is that of Scott McLaughlin who you may bump into in your neck of the woods one day. Scotty is a 2 time champion and Bathurst winner who is now driving for the Team Penske Indycar operation, and just finished 4th in the series in his second year. The #27 Pirtek/Red Bull Commodore is driven by former MotoGP champion Casey Stoner after he retired from MotoGP racing. The Black Yellow and White Torana signed in the funky blue pen is from John Bowe who also gave you a shout out as Marcus Zukanovic had from Eastern Creek. BTW I hope the shirt fits mate, we had to make an audible on the size. 😁Glad you liked what was sent mate, I will message you about doing something either live or pre-recorded from Bathurst on the Wednesday before the race event starts. It's a good day to actually spend time in the pits catching up with the drivers and checking out the set up.

Hey Ian, love your work. I noticed you like a lot of the Darrell Lea confectionery. Not sure if you're aware but Darrell Lea was rescued from bankruptcy a few years ago by an entrepreneur named Tony Quinn. Tony is huge player in motorsports in NZ and Australia. He owns a substantial stake in the Red Bull Holden Racing Team. He also owns Queensland Raceway, and Hampton Downs and Highlands circuits in New Zealand. Just thought you'd like to know the connection between the sweets you like and your love of motorsport. Oh and the signature you weren't sure of on the Torana pic is John Bowe. JB is a multiple TCM champion and Bathurst winner. Cheers from Sydney.

One thing our motorsports people are very good at is standing for hours signing autographs - very good of Dave to get those customised ones for you Ian - race day is such a looooong day/weekend but they're always out there in between practice/qualifying every race. Its like a big family outing, heaps of kids. We are in WA, would leave at 3.30am to get out to Barbagallo Raceway... set up camp by the side of the road into the venue (with hundreds of others... ) cook breakfast and wait for the gates to open... I remember clearly one poor guys car setting on fire at the side of the road because he'd parked over one of the campfires that wasn't quite fully extinguished... once the teams knew about it they organised for him to have a replacement car ! Such a great community - Normally most of us would have Pit passes...so we got to go to pit lane and meet everyone each year.... Being Ford people (sorry hahaha) Craig Lowndes quickly became one of our favourite drivers and was so accessible during race weekend... as were most of the others... I remember holding Mark Skaife's coffee for him whilst he signed my sons autograph book. (he had a book with photos of each driver with their current car and got all of them to sign their own photo ) Such great memories back in the day when Ford vs Holden was the highlight of the weekend.... You deserve these special treats Ian... you show so much respect to our country.

Ballarat is a city to the west of Melbourne. It is famous for the gold rush there in the 19th century. It produced more gold than the whole of California and is still producing gold. It was also the site of the Eureka rebellion against the British which led to self government less than 2 years later. Sovereign Hill is a recreation of old Ballarat from around the middle 1800s and is a major tourist attraction.

@24:25 From 1910 onwards, vehicle registration plates for each state started at number 1 and were manufactured in enamel. Starting in 1936, it was decided that Australian plates were to be uniform in size and embossed using standard Australian dies, beginning with New South Wales, the Federal Capital Territory (now ACT) and Victoria. By 1956, the other states and territories had moved to standard Australian embossing using painted or enamelled metal, with dimensions of 372 mm (14.6 in) × 134 mm (5.3 in). In the early 1950s, a uniform scheme for vehicle registration plates was developed, which was to apply across all states and territories. Previously, both New South Wales and Victoria had issued plates with two letters and three digits, in white on a black background. However, that was not entirely popular, and some states and territories preferred to have their own identity reflected on their registration plates.

We had Queensland The Smart State rego plates for a couple of years in the 90s, due to a push for the then-Premier to advertise the state as the best for smart jobs. After the laughter from every other state and territory died down (think about Florida calling itself the smart state), we went back to The Sunshine State 😅.

I heard a lot of QLD'rs refused to buy cars with "The Smart State" rego plates, the dealers had to beg QLD Transport for the The Sunshine State plates to become available because they were loosing too many car sales, they were both available for a while but the smart state ones were phased out because of not enough demand.

Ballarat(Bella rat) is a the 2nd largest inland town(now called City of Greater Ballarat) in Victoria behind where i live in Bendigo(City of Greater Bendigo) and is located about 120km slightly North West of Melbourne in what is called the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle also includes towns of Wedderburn, Dunolly and many other smaller towns in between, where massive finds of gold in the 1800s brought prospectors pouring into the area, setting up tent cities and, at its peak, sending 1000 kilograms of gold every week to the bank vaults of Melbourne.

Ballarat is an interesting area, it had the largest goldrush in the world outside California! Well preserved and historically worthwhile trip! 👍

Bal a rat is how it is pronounced. It is 60km west of Melbourne and has a replica gold town. It was one edge of the Golden Triangle of Ballarat, Bendigo and Castlemaine where a lot of gold was extracted in 30 years. Ballarat was the site of the Eureka Stockade where the miners rose up against the "police" who where very draconian in enforcement of government licensing fees.
