Violette AC's captain Steeven Saba was actually signed to the MLS a few years ago to play under coach Thierry Henry's Montreal Impact just to break his foot during a routine jog and be released and sent right back to Haiti. Tragic.

@@franze4 Its only used for ties. Score was 0-0 in Honduras and 1-1 in Mexico, since they tied Motagua advances due to having scored as a visitant. If Pachuca had won that second game 2-1 Pachuca would’ve gone through, not a difficult concept. Theres many other reasons why casuals don’t watch the CCL and I don’t think this rule is one of them though.

No comparison although it was an upset, Motagua is still a fully professional club in an ongoing league possibly the best in Central America right now, with actual internationals as well. They have certain commodities although nothing in comparison to what Pachuca may have, it’s still way better than what Violette has to deal with. But shout out to Motagua, bien por ellos ❤.

If you google Zealand Shannon KZbin, you will see his long history in sports broadcasting before his life as a KZbinr/streamer. He started calling sports in middle school, then got his first job as a professional broadcaster for the NY Yankees minor league baseball team in high school. At uni, he called various college sports throughout his four yrs undergrad at UVA and one yr masters at Syracuse for ACC/ESPN. He still calls games for UVA and others when he has time. Football (aka soccer) and basketball have always been his favorites to call. Throughout all he has majored in media, worked as a journalist, etc etc so reporting comes very naturally for him. So glad you are enjoying his content! It is a life well lived when you can make a living doing what you love. Zealand is so grateful for you and all who support him!

Soccer may be the "fifth-biggest sport" in terms of popularity in the US, but 8% of US citizens consider soccer their favorite sport, according to a large survey in 2022. 8% of the US population is, ~27 million, AKA somewhere between the amount of people in Australia or Venezuela. So despite soccer being fifth among team sport popularity here, it's still a huge amount of people.

If an MLS game gets over 1 million viewers it’s considered a huge success (and now that they’re getting out of ESPN and regular tv in favor of Apple TV I don’t see how that’ll help the league grow). Meanwhile a run of the mill college football game gets 15 times that number easily.

The amount of teams will slowly decrease until we reach 22 teams. So yeah, a terrible mess, but I will always prefer the Argentine League over the MLS

Just now today April 18th I clicked on this video not knowing what this vid was about. Then I seen the concacaf and I realized this is the team my team Club Leon just got by. Even though we got through them pretty easily much respect for what they were able to do against Austin fc and even going through big on aggregate they still beat us 2-1 in the second leg. Did not know they were like this makes them beating Austin fc HUGE. Much respect to the staff and the players from Violette 👏 wow they did their thing.

being an Austin FC fan at this game- Violette deserved it. Yeah there was an iffy penalty decision that did not go Austin's way and a subsequent 5-6 minute VAR review, but the forwards for Austin FC could not hit the target and numerous opportunities, even with Violette parking the bus. Honestly the Mexican side they are facing is probably going to be a lot tougher than Austin FC mainly because I think Mexican teams have the best records in the CONCACAF Champions League.
