The thing that I remember to this day is how freaked out everyone was at my job the day after "Best of Both Worlds" first aired. I also to this day remember how captivated I was by the B5 "Z'Ha'Dum"season cliffhanger because of the masterful writing and acting that was just absolutely superb. Very high and memorable wow factor on both accounts, IMO. That being said -- the aforementioned has for me set the wow factor standard in terms of sci-fi TV series cliffhangers.

I clearly remember watching "Best of Both Worlds" in June 1990. This was before the Internet and social media so I was caught totally by surprise with the ending. I actually yelled at my TV, "Nooooooooooooooo!" That was one of the longest summers I've ever experienced waiting for the premiere of Part II. September couldn't come fast enough. BoBW Part II had me riveted to the screen as I didn't know if Patrick Stewart was returning to the show. It was a different time in television that we'll never experience again.

The internet existed in 1990. It was not, obviously, that accessible to the general public.

"Space: Above and Beyond" -- the season 1 finale (in which most of the characters were in a life threatening situation) turned out to be the series finale! Too bad because I really liked this program!

Fantastic. I loved BSG but it would not have been made without B5 being so great. Best of the 1990's & 2000's. Cheers

I think I may have suffered permanent ear damage when Best of Both Worlds first aired. My roommate’s scream at me”To be continued “ rattled the windows.

Battlestar Galactica, the later one, blow my mind especially with the continuity of the story.

No. The best ever season ending cliffhanger by far is the final episode of Season 2 of Farscape

The best of both worlds was the greatest cliff hanger season ending I've ever seen! And to be continued was the most WTF ending I've ever seen besides,to serve man the twilight zone episode I shat myself for weeks after that show aired. It haunts my thoughts to this day!!

Babylon 5 "had to" end every season with a cliffhanger ... because they werent guaranteed a next season like many of the other series.

None of the 1960s TV cliffhangers? Lost In Space's cliffhanger every week. Classic Batman's dynamic duo cliffhangers - Stay tuned next week - same bat time, same bat channel! 😅

#5 I always HATED the replicators ... because they are NOT TECHNOLOGICALLY "LOGICALLY FEASIBLE" (just like all the stuff "Vibranium" can do in Wakanda "technology" ... and the Iron Man suits that materialise weapons/armor out of nothing). #4 The same applies to the Battlestar Galactica "reimagining" ... which HAS NO RULES / LIMITS and can basicall "do anything". #3 The episode "continues" in the next two episodes ... and then the story "ends" in episode 6 of season 4 ... the most epic cliffhanger of them all, because of the "resolution" just six episodes later. #2 never was a fan of X-Files ... because it is focused on US-SPECIFIC conspiracy theories #1 the Borg should NEVER have lost to the puny Federation ... but that would have been BORING to watch. They share the same problem with the replicators and reimagined cylons ... which all have TOTAL DESTRUCTION as their motive, which would have been TRIVIAL TO GET ... but ... *the SHADOWS from Babylon 5 did NOT have that same MOTIVATION ... which gets revealed in season 4 ... and thus the Shadows are NOT "badly written and completely overpowered villains who SHOULD HAVE won easily" as in these other shows!*

I will completely disagree with you on Battlestar Galactica Ronald Moore betrayed in basically screwed over the original fans and yes, I am one of the original fans he pissed me off. it is nothing like the original. He did not respect anything.
