Its just a guess but the activation requirement for your sprun might be use an active item which your doing about constantly so you have it almost permanently

but then it would do the activation animation its more likely to be a glitch that can happen with R&G department with spruns "fall" activation :)

It could have been that the trigger was to fall in a pit, and going to the R&G dept. requires falling into a pit, that and the trigger of a level change probably bugged it.

nah, Speedrunning is for M/kb users, I only controller. Kinda assured I never broke top 10. Also I got 3 WR streaks in the game in the hardest modes that stand to this day. So I concentrated on that :D

im watching my sister play rn and she got finished gun from a brown chest and riddle of lead from the boss feels bad that i get nothing in my runs edit:nvm she sucks at the game and died on the 3rd floor

Why do you empty the gun and throw it before picking up ammo? It'll be full either way right or am I missing something

It's for the boss fight reward - if you haven't picked up a weapon on that floor, the boss fight is guaranteed to give you a gun. If you pick up a weapon, then there's a chance for the reward to be an item. If you haven't picked up a weapon, then emptying & throwing a gun tricks the game into thinking you've picked up a gun - so there's a chance for boss fight to give you item
