I work in a small corner shop, and the amount of kids i see grabbing chocolate and sweets off shelves while their parents say no repeatedly, only to scream "i want it" or cry on the floor and then the parents say fine and end up buying it for them... probably 85% of the parents i see in this situation give in and just buy it. I cant fully judge as i dont know the background, but i cant help but wonder how all those kids will grow up.

I didn't grow up in a wealthy family. My dad bought me a PS2 as a gift when PS3 was out for over 2 years because that was all he could afford (and I appreciated it so much at the time). The parents always want to surprise their children. In fact, it's better to at least ask what the children want. If the parents can't afford it, they can say "we can only afford this, do you want it?". If the children don't want it, then just say that you'll not buy anything then. There must be some other things that they want. It's better than buying something they don't want and may hurt the parents' feelings as well

i got an ipod at like 7-8 which i could only play talking tom on, after that around 9-11 i just got hand me down phones including: my brothers old samsung and my mums cracked iphone 8 or something. kids in my class were spoiled and had the latest phones thinking they were all that, while i only got a proper phone at 12 im grateful for everything ive got, i have a samsung galaxy A52s and i love it! if any of my kids are spoiled im leaving earth
