This battle really reminded me of, I think it was Salerno in WW2. There were tanks on a cliff, firing at ships passing by the port. I mean, I guess you use what artillery you have, not the artillery you want. 88mm guns did not fare well against US navy ships.
@carlosdgutierrez6570 Жыл бұрын
It would be wildly different in modern times, tanks with 120/125mm guns and 155/152mm hotwitzers would wreck any modern frigate or destroyer in less than a minute if they managed to land a dozen well placed shots or so. Even a modern super carrier could see its flight deck savage mangled with a few well placed shells in ballistic trayectory, actually I don't think the flight deck could stop a 155/152 shell from penetrating to the deck below. If you were able to get the gun within range of the ship of course.

@CC--jk6cr Жыл бұрын
@@matthiuskoenig3378 No, it was tactically sound. If the CIS didn’t go through the asteroid field then they would have to attack from above or below. I get why the Bothans chose to remain neutral. If a merchant refuses to sell to a customer because they feel slighted, they tend to run out of businesses in short order. According to old Star Wars Lore, shields were primarily designed to absorb thermal energy, so they would be vaulnerable to the rounds of Mass Driver regardless if they hadn't lowered the shields. However the galactic races likely don't use physical ammunition due to how if you miss those rounds would just go flinging into the darkness of space and could hit a planet or an unlucky starship just passing by. The energy blasts by comparison would lose power eventually. So yeah Anakin did another crime potentially by having the mass drivers fire in space and likely having a few rounds just zoom into space and now have to pray they don't hit anyone.
@richardched6085 Жыл бұрын
Then an AT-TE's Mass Driver is unable to so much as dent or even scratch an AT-AT.... How is an unshielded Munificent less durable? It's a nearly 850 meter long warship. Yet a few dozen Mass Driver blasts are able to obliterate it.
@carlosdgutierrez6570 Жыл бұрын
It was a glass cannon with barely any actual armor, completely dependent upon its deflector shields to protect itself from damage, had Grievous not given the order to reinforce the forward shields at the expense of the back ones the masa drivers would have done shit to the ships.
