Remember, a small group of them once took out an entire Clone facility and pretended to be Clones over the comms. The only thing that gave them out is their signature "Roger-roger". Well 1) there was still more B1s in that game than BXs, and 2) considering they are from a destroyed core ship, the BX are more durable and would most likely survived the crash than a B1 would and if they were damaged, a BX wouldn't have been as damaged as a B1 would, giving BX a better chance to be repaired than a B1 would.

Rember bx survived a uncontrolled crash landing from space and even damaged they still were mostly just as effective then agsin they were fighting rex and he was wounded but they still did get close

'to the same extent' is the key phrase. So there might have been ~1 quadrillion B1 battle droids produced, but only 100 million Commando droids. (this is for a galaxy-wide war). To give an idea of scale, the factory we saw in Ep2 Attack of the Clones was producing one B1 droid every second or about 31 million per year.

Really, i find them weak. Im a good BX dont get me wrong, but against a good aerial, RC or infiltrator im not going to win due to the difference in dps. Even if i get the jump they can roll through the vibrosword making it a niche item at best. Although i still find them fun (im a max infiltrator)

I mean, in many cases staying in range beneffited the enemy, like Clones being able to shoot the droid (while the clone might get overwhelmed in hand to hand combat by a BX) or Jedis who can deflect blasters perfectly on a 1v1 or even on a 1v2, while vibroswords had some chance against lightsabers unless the Jedi was _extremely_ skilled in melee combat

Love playing as these guys in BF2, they work really well for a hit n run playstyle, plus the Vibrosword (atleast seemingly) can't be blocked by lightsabers, making it surprisingly effective at harassing enemy Heroes.

in both legends and canon the main cost was the rare alloy of their armour. a commando droid made of B1 alloy would have been easier to kill but way cheaper, basically an army of mister bones

Their quick reflexes and monoverbility made them extremely dangerous, and their armour also offered more flexibility in combat. If they were the main forces in the Separtists army, I couldn't see them turning the tide as there would be limited numbers of them and the simple fact they were only hyper lethal in close range and a b2 carries more fire-power and armour for rank and file combat.

The brutal thing is, that they definitely could've made droids that could easily kill Jedi and Sith alike, as the tech is there, but that droids pretty much instantly would step over it's inhibitation chip and do whatever he want, likely attacking it's own leadership to take over. Yet, they kept getting closer to sentient robotics in desperation. Compared how tame usually SW seem, it's hard to note that the third faction that could start a Cybernetic Revolution is just there, all the time.

Easily the best part of Commando Droids is their redundency system, in which if they lose their head, they still have the camera in their chest to see. This also means they can't be shut down with just a headshot.

We see commando droids being taken out like canon fodder in kaminoan unit cohesion tests and on the open battlefield, so I don’t think they’re anywhere close to the clones in terms of combat ability. However they were typically deployed in smart ways that capitalized on their advantages, which probably made them more intimidating to clones

I read somewhere that initially IG series Hunter droids were proposed to the separatist for their droid army, but they would cost WAY wore money. Mesa thinking they would of totally crushed thier opponents in pretty much any battle. An army of IG units would be terrifying.

Dooku/Palpatine probably fine tuned the production numbers in order to keep the Clone Wars a stalemate for so long. GRA get ahead, increase numbers, CIS get ahead decrease numbers.

I don’t think it was just price it was also because Palpatine didn’t want the war to end too quickly. They did try to have cortosis droids which would’ve turned the tide of battle but most likely Palpatine revealed its location for its destruction before any units could be deployed.

The fact is that one BX commando droid was worth dozens of B1 battle droids in combat. So they were well worth their cost… These droids are a prime example (along with the Tri-fighter and Buzz Droids; and the far superior Separatist Navy) that, if only the Separatists had _wanted_ to win and were _allowed_ to win they would have.
