Peter Sellars was a mix of a brilliant comedian, raging undiagnosed psychiatric issues, substance abuse problems, and a domineering/controlling personal life that bled onto sets. You guys should do a video on memes where the story behind them is significantly cooler then the meme. Example; the Shia LaBeouf "JUST DO IT" meme looks like a crazy person in front of a camera until you find out that it was part of a school theatre project where a bunch of students wrote monologues and Shia did all of them. Or the OG pre internet meme of Prince changing his name to a symbol, which, out of context, looks like something a crazy person would do. Then you find out that he had just broke away from Sony Records and Sony still had rights to the name Prince which isn't just a recording name but the one on his birth certificate. So rather than let them win and change his name he used a legal loophole and created a symbol that meant Prince. So when ever he was talked about you'd still have to refer to him as Prince, even if legally it had to have "the artist formally known as" in front of it.

Joining the camp of "This needs to be a series"... SO many historically recognized toxic sets and behind the scenes issues weren't covered, it's just difficult to know where to start... From certain actors just being hard to deal with to the filming of "The Shining" sending the lead actress into a psychological spiral that didn't end until she was "at rock bottom" and brought to get treatment on a talk show themed "Where are they now"... There are rumors (at least) that certain directors tried too hard to get "realism" by having sexual assault scenes "filmed for real" and so-called "method actors" who were overly and overtly committed to their roles to psychologically and even PHYSICALLY dangerous degrees... As Simon aptly pointed out in this video, "It's ACTING"... meaning people are professionally PAID TO PRETEND, which should largely be seated in conversations where they can explore the emotional context of certain characters without actually trying to live through the experiences, which WILL eventually lead to inherent dangers and trouble... Some engagement of "The Method" might be passable in a professional setting, but I don't recommend it. You might never know what it is to have to knock your own tooth out with an ice skate on a deserted island, and I frankly hope you never do... BUT casually booking a dental appointment to get a tooth pulled without novacaine is beyond insanity. We ALL understand what pain is. It friggin' HURTS!!! One shouldn't have to put himself or herself through trauma just to "understand their character and motivation"... That's WHY it's supposed to be ACTING and PRETEND in the first place. ;o)

In regards to the Peter Sellers wanting to play it straight, he was right, have you never seen the Pink Panther movies? Or The Naked Gun, or Hot Shots? It's the fact that they all play the ridiculous roles completely serious that makes it funny! Leslie Nielsen is the perfect example of that. But then again, you've seen like 3 movies in your life lol

KZbin needs to do a thing where it shows people notifications for when you (Big Brain British Boy) releases a new video no matter what channel it's on.

Assuming Simon has now been schooled on the life and career of Peter Sellers. Perhaps a Biographics episode is warranted. 😂

if you ever wish to know who Peter Sellers is, I would suggest watching the one of the following movies any of the old Pink Panther movies, Being There, and/or Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

Pronounced "Betty Davis"(bet-tee day-vis) like the song... 'She has Bette Davis eyes'

Davis & Crawford were utter professionals. Stories about their feuding on set were generated more for the sake of publicity than anything else. Not a big budget film, there's no way that they were shooting unneeded takes, nor, had Davis risk injury & hamper production. There were comments from Davis about Crawford, "She's so heavy! What? Does she have rocks in her pockets?" That's all. There's one incedent where in the last scenes shot on the beach, Davis was complaining about Crawford wearing fake breasts that hurt when she threw herself on top of the character's dead body. "Joan's boobs seem bigger and harder every day! They're killing me!"

Sellers did all of the Pink Panther movies as Inspector Clouseau, as a comic actor he WAS brilliant but apparently a complete pain in the a*se to work with.
