Remember the last time you tried moving your desktop gaming PC? All those hard drives and full size components sure have some heft to them! We say work smarter, not harder: this laptop has all of the power of a desktop, plus a mechanical keyboard and more storage space than you know what to do with.

You don't need to hope, it will be so in the near future. Sooner than you think. Because by the time 8TB SSD costs $200, there will be new 1-5 PB SSDs with read/write speeds of over 50GB/s. The only business laptops have being as thick as gaming laptops is if they can continue to pack in CD drives. They make slimline CD drives now that can more than fit with room to spare in the chassis thickness required of a gaming laptop.

And if they used hotswap sockets so you could switch out the bad cherry switches they'll definitely put in with something better. And it might also allow for stab modding. You'll end up making a laptop with an amazing keyboard to beat any other out there.

@@scratchpad7954 Who needs CD drives anymore? I've never liked gaming laptops. They're expensive, bulky, heavy, loud, run so hot they need external fans blowing on them making them even bulkier, and they wear out fast. They'll never be as good as desktops at running games, and they take away all the advantages of having a laptop. A good laptop for gaming is a streaming laptop. Get one that can stream games from a desktop over good Internet, or from Stadia, and you can actually use it as a convenient, portable computer when you're not gaming. Anyway modern games have a lot of detail to their graphics, and you lose a lot playing them from a laptop screen.

Can we please ask why MSI, a Taiwanese company, is still doing business with Russia? Acer, Asus, TMSC, AMD and a bunch of others have either suspended operations or withdrawn entirely. But MSI is still doing business there. If China ever invades Taiwan, I'm sure MSI is going to care great deal whether the world continues to do business with them. They should show similar support for Ukraine.

However, if you search $1500 PC build 2022, you'll find a ton of videos with great recommendations. Also, keep in mind we're so close to the launch of the new CPUs, an ultimate $1500 PC build list will probably change quite dramatically in the next month. I still do not use OLED. I got 2 TVs here. One that already is 13 years old. The other one 10 years old. Furthermore two 24" BenQ screens that are almost 13 years old. Could an OLED do that? IDK. YDK. I won't take the risk.

@@marvin8291 I concede the point on OLED, though dead pixels were also quite a concern back at the 13 years ago time, I think I got my sony kdl40w2000 a year or 2 before even that, so there is always something to worry about as an early adopter.

that's a desktop in a laptop form factor (not to undersell the engineering feets for power and cooling (kudos team), but it's also still going to be stupid expensive as configured, has a downright silly-heavy-big power brick, and is just plain heavy... it's a mobile workstation, nothing less. yeah, there's a market for it (gamers who need portability and have trust funds, creative professionals who can't get away with high end notebook gpus, someone who wants a portable rig for demoing high end vr maybe?), but I don't see this as being a high volume product at all.

almost every high end gaming laptop has one common problem other than thermals is how long will it last I've gone through 3 laptops with in the last 7 years a msi gt70, asus rog, and a eurocom sky x7c all had the same problem is mainboard failure and i think its due to the cpu out putting alot of heat in the result of the mosfets and caps getting cooked over time from high cpu temps

So true. These gaming laptops draw a shit ton of power, so over time if thermals aren't kept in mind eventually it's going to fry a component. That's why it's so important to run a temperature monitor in the background to prevent cooking the pc.

They work fantastic but you need to repaste it first. I repasted mine with *Noctua NT-H2*. Went from gaming BL3 and CP77, settings on Ultra, with full fan boosters and still fkn burning my fingers! -> to not having to go full boost and still staying cool. I'm blown away by the difference. The paste MSI uses is TOTAL DOGSHIT. Its more like foam-candy than actual thermal paste. My temps are now at 57-59°C with no fan boost and 39-41°C with full boost. I love my MSI now.

You know what I want to see in a gaming laptop? One that can fold over sorta like a 2 in 1 so you can have the screen closer to you while you game on your 60% keyboard and mouse. Better cooling, the screen is closer for a better experience, and since they usually put the speakers on the bottom better sound too.
