Lee was a sportscaster who recited baseball scores on the air. He wanted more. He wanted to join the regular staff, but he was turned down. The boss at the station said he had no future as a radio announcer. The boss suggested that he find something that he could do well, then do that. As he was leaving, about to give up, he met someone in the hallway. Find out what happened in this episode of Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story."

OK you got me on this one. I had no idea. What a terrible start for a man to become the most trusted man. Wonderful video and lesson Brad. Thank you for all your research and lessons. It's too bad that we have no news anymore just opinions. Then we have social media that spreads lies faster than some people can think of more lies. I long for truth on TV. News, commercials, and or sports could all be better if they would give, as Joe Friday would say, Just the facts Mam'. LOL

I'm very glad you enjoyed it, Steven. It's unfortunate that we don't have unbiased news. Everyone seems to have an agenda. I agree about social media. :)

Thank you so much Brad for giving us the rest of the story. I grew up watching Walter deliver the news. I always felt like he belonged in everyone's living room, giving us the news every night. Truly we all have secrets, but what we do with them is quite honestly a difficult thing for us to know when to divulge them. Again, thank you for your work ❤

@@BradDison He was a little before my time. I grew up with Rick Dees, but I doubt Mr. Harvey did an episode on him. 😂 But I guess saying I grew up with Rick Dees just says I grew up sometime in a 50 yr window. 😂

In this age of "newscasters" and "reporters" who all seem to have their own political agendas and biases, Mr. Cronkite is sorely missed. He told it as it was without skewing either right or left.

Yup, grew up with the best of the best....Cronkite, Reasoner, Rather, Brokaw, Jennings....man, those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.....all journalists at their finest. News is definitely NOT the same. Shame, used to be a respectable profession.....but, I digress, time for a bowl of corn flakes!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oh yeah. Those were the best. It makes me want to go back and watch vintage tv. When I was a child, we all watched the nightly news (before MASH hahaha). I can hardly watch the news these days. There is always hope for the future. :)
