Roadrunner, it was so wonderful to meet you in person. What an exciting surprise it was to see you! Thank you for being so kind and generous with your time. Watching your channel for a few years now, I always felt like you had a huge heart that came through your videos. Now I know for sure. 💙 Also, please don’t feel bad that Top Hat, etc chose to not go to the end. You’re right. They are all adults and do what they will with the good information you provide. These trails are hard. The cold and wet conditions complicated it a bit more. Now everyone knows a little more than they did before they started. You provided a good safety net. Cheers to your next adventures! 🙏🏼💙

I live in flat Ohio and have always loved to hike/walk. I've been fascinated with the AT for years and always thought maybe I could do it when I retired. Now I think I'd be happy if i could do a week on trail. I've spent 2 years trying to straighten out hip, back, glute pain. I'm 61 and I think there are probably some older people who want to hike the AT that probably should include core and glute strengthening into their prep routine. That up and down uneven terrain is no joke on an older body. Love your videos Roadrunner!

I'm up in NW Ohio so I haven't been to any of those places further away. I'm not a regular hiker but like to hit a trail if I'm in an area. I think my days of more difficult hikes may be over but nice to have some names of those places down in southern Ohio.

I'm surprised at how green everything still was on trail. The falls were beautiful as well as all the river crossings. Glad you didn't lose Top Hat after the first night, although he almost lost you with his early rising the 3rd morning. 🤣 It looks like it's a good trail for people to get a taste of the AT. If they walk away realizing they need more training, then you've helped them tremendously. Better to find out now than on the AT.

I respect you so much for how you are “teaching” hiking. Allowing your “students” to take responsibility for their decisions is most empowering, and a different decision isn’t always a bad one, it’s just different. I hope that someday I can make the opportunity to hike with you. In the meantime, thanks for creating content. Happy New Year! “ River crossin!”

The trail defintely looks more approachable during a cool weather hike than when I attempted it in July wtih temps in the upper 90s. Will have to get back out and try it again (made it around 50 of the 76 miles before I ran out of time and had to get off trail).

I remember telling you that you should get a verity pack of the LMT powders. So you cant just judge them just off of one packet. And how cold is out there way to cold for me. I dont understand how anyone starts there thru hikeing in February or March. I literally met a guy in Walmart where i live near Charlotte nc, he is geting ready to thru hike the appalachian trail and he is starting in February. He literally just hiked the trail your on now. It was a great conversation. He hasnt started his youtube channel yet but he told me what his channel is. And should be interesting to watch i love watching thru hikers. I absolutely love your river crossing 🤩 useing the forest gump Analogy i like that top hat 🎩 wow thats one heck of a bridge 🤯 the put some serious money intho that thing 🤯 its absolutely amazing to me how just about everyone says it allways harder than you think and i believe it. Im only a day hiker. And when i go out i might go 8 to 10 miles which to for me personally isnt that big of a deal. But it never Ceases to Amaze me how i can barely walk the next day. And i cant Imagine doing that for 5 months every day. I mean i guess after a while your feet get use to it. But thats what allways blows my minds

Great video. Very enjoyable with all the people in it. I’ve been wondering about the story of the phrase, “River Crossin”? Was it you always say it at crossings, the way you say it with your accent, or a combination? By the way. I’m saying it now even if I’m stepping over a trickle of water. 😊
